Here is a picture from our past. Easter 2015 in fact. We were in this town to celebrate the life of our dearly departed mother, the town she grew up in. I have another picture of her in front of this wooden diesel train. What town are we in?
Gooba gets the jelly babes. It is Walcha. My Mum grew up on a farm outside Walcha, and during the war met my Dad, and they moved back to Walcha. It was not until she had the first two of seven children that they decided to move to Brisbane and continued giving birth to another five children.
We went back with the family about 20 years ago, and she showed us around town, telling us anecdotes about each shop, for example, the Chemist: "He was Mr Jones (not his real name). We think he may have been a catholic, because he would not sell us condoms!" This came from someone well into her 70s - who had given birth to seven kids!!!
Take us on your journey Gooba
