Hey Doug, I know you don't like Mr. Google, but first in best dressed here.

HINT: Most know of my location by now, so just try typing, 'beaches with jetties' where I am presently located?  Gwynnie floating.gif

Excellent work, Doug it is indeed Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island and take heart ....I think I speak to many of us on this forum that we all resort to Dr. Google when there is a 'mystery photo to be solved' and not much to go on.  It can be quite a feat as sometimes this process can take hours........confuse confuse confuse

Remember the challenge is not to "know it all," but to at least be a little faster at 'research' then the next person. biggrin biggrin biggrin  Gwynnie floating.gif

First question Doug, is it a sunrise or sunset please?  That will give me an East/ West orientation.  Gwynnie floating.gif

Just for the record Gwynnie, the sun sets over water in Queensland, so that might just blow your theory.

W also camped on a peninsula in SA, where we had ocean views to the east, west and south, so watched the sun go down over the Southern Ocean in South Australia.

I am sitting on the fence with this, but that does look like wedge island in the background!

Most Definitely a sun SET Gwynnie.

There could be a Wedge tail Eagle there DM but it is not wedge island sorry.

Yes Dunmowin, not to split hairs here, I was not necessarily suggesting Doug's  photo was taken in Western Australia but now I know he is looking in a westerly direction.  By the tide line it looks like a coastal region in the northern tropics?    Gwynnie floating.gif

Not in the wild west or northern tropics sorry Gwynnie.

Hope you are enjoying the Island life Gwynnie confuse

The 'Island' bit was a hint.

Not Tassie but you could smell the apples from there with a strong wind.

biggrin Sorry Doug just found that King Island is very much a part of Tasmania.   (As you say no to being on Tasmania from Gaylehere's guess)

So have to change my guess to Phillip Island maybe??    Gwynnie floating.gif

Gwynnie, it's like putting a wet finger on a hot plate, ssssssssss. You are very hot for the point of land in the distance but just warm for where I took the pic from.

Phillip Island is the Island I am near.

Ya should get it now.

Edit.....Don't forget it's a two part question biggrin

No sorry Gwynnie. The point in the distant is on PI but the place I took the pic from is about 15km by road away and not on PI.

My first thoughts were Point Quobba as there are lots of rocky beaches in that area.

Remember I said it's a two part question,to get the cupie doll you must name both places.both places have been mentioned.
Take a better look and think about what you said Gwynnie. Maybe read my last comment as well.

Well Doug, my 'ugly mug' has been on this site a little too much for my liking today.   But I will make one last attempt at your photo and if I am incorrect then I will leave it up to someone else brave enough to keep trying.  Kilcunda (as mentioned by Terry B.) is on the mainland and Cape Woolamai Beacon (my guess) is on Phillip Island near Gull Island.  confuse confuse confuse

So I am guessing you are at Kilcunda Coastal Reserve looking across near Cape Woolamai Beacon as the headland in the background.  Using Google maps there are 15.1 kms between these two points.  Gwynnie  floating.gif

Take the cupie doll Gwynnie.
Spot on.
I was actually at the back door of a caravan my late wife and I had on site at Kilcunda CVP for many years when I took that pic along with many others over the years.
Maybe Bluecat could give us a run for our money.
