If it has not got fairly new tyres then change them soon. Remember the 7 year rule.

Like Peter D says, also expiry date of gas bottles, originals have 10 year refill life unless retested and stamped.  At 20 years old they may have had new ones at one stage or at least been re-tested or exchange bottles with re-tested expiry date.

Look for water leak stains on roof ceiling, inside cupboards, under beds etc, check chassis underneath for any sign of accident damage or repairs/twists/bends, welds etc that may not be normal and of course any serious rusting or rotting/warping of underboards.

Extend roll out awning and check for holes/fraying etc, and if pop top (doesn't sound like it) condition of canvas/vinyl pop top skirt.  Have them connect power and check operation of all applicances, gas and electric modes etc, including A/Con if supplied.

Would be handy to check the brake linings or bearings, but this may not be possible at the time, although you could ask to take the van for a run or ask them to with you along etc, however it would depend on how serious you were about buying it and some may not like to.
