I need some input please. For my next tug. I am looking for a Nissan Patrol, Diesel,6 cylinder 4.2....$ irelivant for this senario. Lets assume we find 2 vehicles that we like. Both the same price. Both have the same inclusions. Both have been looked after fastidiously. They are almost the same vehicle. But one of them is 2006 model with 160,000 k,s on the clock. And the other is 2003 model with 90,000 k,s on the clock. Q....Which one do I buy and why. your thoughts

The 4.2 is now past tense, how ever its still a better unit than a 3lt. eg, the more power you try to squese out of a smaller motor the shorter the life time.
With that said, I dont see a couple of years difference in age matters as they are still the same car, so I think you have more to gain from less kls verses a couple of years younger.Happy hunting.

I would talk to your local NRMA mechanic, not the office, the guy that actually does the work. These guys are usually switched on as to the problems that may be connected with a particular model. Also check the 'red book' valuations on the net, it can be hard to get any money for a vehicle when it gets over 10 years old, so think of resale value as well as spare parts, later on. Try and verify the service history as well.

I may be a bit unusual,but I have just sold my 2006 Navara D40 that had 75000ks ,and bought a 1998 Pajero 3.5 litre which has only done 109000ks,which is about 2 years travelling for us and put $10000 in the bank.I love the Pajero although the navara served it,s purpose,I believe the Pajero will serve me well for years to come.Bargain for the older one and you will be ahead.By the way I traded a 1996 Pajero back in 2006 ,and they gave me $1100 for it and I paid $13000 for this new one,so they havent depreciated as much as the newer ones have.
Hi , Just a little bit of info with the Nissan . Friends brought a new 4.2 traytop and had to fit after market back springs ,they were to soft.. The chap that did the springs said it keeps him in business,, I like Nissans.. Bob n Bev
