Showgrounds camping ? ?

Gday...

We have found that many towns have opened their showgrounds for use by the travelling public, usually at very good prices with better than fair facilities.

However, we have not been able to track down a reference that lists or identifies which towns/areas have showgrounds available for travellers.

Has anyone been lucky enough to discover such a resource??

Cheers

Julie & John

Top idea,

suggest that when posting, include the name of the town in the Subject line to enable easy future reference...

Gday...

Good idea. Have now posted two that we know of that are not listed in Camps 5 or elsewhere.

Good travelling.

Cheers

I have a fair list of showgrounds I collected from a few good people on caravan forums over the past yeay but I havn't completed them yet & not sure what to do with it when it's finished because having extra info on each place it my be too large for a forum post.
So far done Qld, NSW & SA but still checking out VIC.
Cheers
Jon

I know the Rochester, Vic sports ground next to the caravan park used to allow campervans to stay overnight.
Saw them there a few years ago, they had been there two nights and were doing their washing. Don't know anymore than that. They did park next to the public toilets on the grounds.

Hi there - bit late but the Camps 5 (or whatever version you have) usually has showgrounds listed - in SE Qld there is a nice one at Kalbar, right near the shops and the pub - also Boonah, run more like a caravan park (few permanents) - but quite nice and just behind the shopping centre, so walk to town for shopping etc.
Kenilworth showground is terrific, Mareeba showground is also good.

Has any one noticed as you drive into Boonah from the Rathdowney end, that there is a sign that says Boonah is an RV friendly town?

It sure is a RV friendly town - the showgrounds caravan park is huge, has a dump point, and is right behind the town shops.  I work in the Visitors Info Centre on a Sunday, and direct heaps of people there - it is always busy - they have a lot of caravan clubs, Motorhome clubs etc., and cater for them as well in the pavillion/

If you are in the area on most Sundays ( from 10'30 ish) come in and say hi - I wear a name tag (Julie) so you will know if it is me or not.
