lake gilles

hi all just got back from a few daays "bush" camping at lake gilles which is for those who don't know about 20 odd k's from kimba on the south australian west coast just off the main highway to WA. the lake is a dry salt and gypsum lake for most of the year and the land yacht club that i belong to goes up there "land sailing" a few times a year,, there's not much there except the lake so all supplies have to be carried in,, boy it was bloody cold at night, glad i had a warm sleeping bag as we were only "tenting" it not a place for caravans and camper trailers might even be a bit "ify" but bush camping the hard way isn't all that bad for a few days,,,,
some great land sailing was done on the lake with a personal best of 58.3kph which doesn't sound much but when your "butt" is only a few inches off the ground and the wind and a sail is all you have for "an engine" it's not bad i guess.

Sounds like you had a great weekend BB, not my cup of tea but each to his own.

I like my nice warm soft bed and some warmth on a cold night.biggrinbiggrin
