Beautifull Nundle

Just came back from a lovely weekend in Nundle.  We had to take the van to the repairers on Sat so thought, why not just keep going somewhere.  We thought about free camping at Chaffey Dam which we often do, but as temperatures drop below zero overnight, we decided power and heaters might make life a little more comfortable.

The caravan park is very neat and dog friendly.  Most people there had their dogs, and all but one group were terrific.  My gripe was with the large multi generational family group who commandeered the camp kitchen and fire pit to the exclusion of anyone else.  Thats not my biggest problem.  They had with them 3 maltese, 2 german shepherds and a foxy puppy.  No problems with that, but why couldnt they keep them on leads, or at least on their own camp sites instead of running into every one elses.  I love shepherds but Im not happy when a full grown one runs up to my tiny dog and scares the xxxxxxx out of both of us.  no  All other dog owners were great and kept the dogs on their own sites and well supervised.  smile

I think perhaps boundaries are not important with this particular family as the kids continually rode bikes through wherever the urge took them and the poor foxy pup was dropped on the road at least 3 times by the little fellow carrying him.

Oh well enough wingeing.  We had a great time, and although only 60 kms from home, we could have been anywhere, and this time, we took the time to do the tourist things.  Would recommend the Gold mine tour, only $2 and the rock and mineral display at the tourist info was amazing.

We live a couple of hours away from the Tamworth Nundle area and have never been there. Think about it quite often but haven't yet made it. Maybe later in the year. We are off to Qld in about a week to look around. Seems we never want to go to places not far from home, always looking at the places more distant. Why is that?

We were advised by friends to visit Nundle when we were camping outside Walcha over Easter. What they forgot to tell us was that at Easter, there is the Chinese gold festival!!! So the normally quiet historical village was overcome with "tourists"
