fault finding on Dometic 3 way fridge

My 6 year old fridge will not work on gas. works fine on 12V and 240V. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to fix this?

Hi Webby, welcome to the forum.
not an expert on fridges but my first question would be. have you ever had it on gas before? if not the safety valve may be turned off, usually located on the gas line under the van.
If you have used it on gas before, then it may be a blocked jet. Hopefully someone will have a better idea, if its not that simple.

Sometimes if you have not used the fridge on gas for a long time it takes a while for the gas to get to the fridge to light.  My old fridge in the previous van would take up to three or four minutes to light.

Are you sure your electric lighter is working as well?

Hi Webby and welcome to the forum,

Sorry can't help a lot but further to clazandaza's suggestion I usually find it helps to turn on (and ignite) one of the burners on the stove briefly before attempting to start the fridge on gas if it hasn't been used (on gas) recently. This ensures that the gas is flowing through the system and removes any air in the lines, or I think that's what happens, don't know a lot about gas stuff, whatever the theory it seems to help.

Also check Jandas Fun's suggestions. If these ideas don't work it may be necessary to go to a gas fridge repair outfit. I guess you're trying to eliminate the simple stuff first.

Hi Webby,
Give Caravan Refrigeration Services a ring on 03 95741900 I have found them very helpful in the past have saved me heaps. They will answer your questions over the phone.
The three way fridges do work on heat so if it works on power and 12 volts, the problem is in the gas line if you can get to the rear of the fridge make sure the jet is not blocked.

hope this helps you out.
Cheers Hammer

Question;;;  are you holding the control button in that sets the thermo switch while you are trying to light the gas?

I'm hoping its just a case of being a bit more patient as the fridge hasn't run on gas for some months
