Fuel consumption

Our first trip is still in the planning phase, but wondering what kind of fuel consumption I can expect in my BF mkII falcon towing a coromal 445 poptop.
We have booked into Broome in June and may go on to Darwin if the funds hold out.

Welcome Carlo, nice to see you here.
What sized motor in tug, and how big is the van?
Where have you booked in in Broome? Very lucky boy. Most parks dont' take bookings in Broome for the peak season. It's usually pot luck, first in best dressed, and to the overflow you go.
When I arrived in Cairns July 08, after leaving Broome 12 months before, diesel here and most of Qld was almost $1.80 per litre. Now $1.26/27, so I reckon I could to anywhere at that rate. Brisbane is actually dearer than Cairns at the moment. Figure that one out.
Have a great trip, and stay safe.

Hi Granny, The falcon has a 4L motor and the van is 14ft 6 weighs 1300kg loaded so reasonably lightweight.
We are staying at Cable beach caravan park. Stayed there in 2008 when we did a half lap of Aus in a hired Britz van. From Perth we went up through the centre to Darwin and then back home down the west coast. Back then our average price for diesel over the whole trip was $1.85 per litre and Nanutarra at $2.29 per litre the most expensive.
This is our first trip towing a caravan so will be interesting to see how our fuel costs compare to last time.

Hi, consumption would depend greatly on speed. We had similar set up and at 85 kph used about 12 to 13 litres per 100 but go to 100k and jump to almost 16l per 100k

we have a bf pulling a 505 coromal. the car runs on gas and we get about 17 to 18 ltrs to 100km.

the speed we travel at is governed by the tacho. we cruise around the 1800 revs . never getting over 200 revs.  so our speed can vary from 80 to 100 depending on hills flats or wind
