electric brakes

G,day all

Looking for thoughts about the Tekonsha Voyager electric brake unit. I was given a unit with a grey front (believe different models have different colour tag).
Any thoughts on this unit (fitting to a Holden sedan VY)

G'day

Not sure about the Voyager but the Prodigy is a top unit.  I have had one fitted for about 4 years now and it has never given a problem.

Cheers

Don

G'day Don and welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy our little patch

The problem was with the Voyager but I believe the later Voyager models are OK.

I have a Prodigy and it has never missed a beat.

no worries Dave, hope it helped!

I think (and I may stand corrected) it was only one particular unit and John may well be right about the earlier model which has since been corrected,

as far as I am aware the tekonsha is the most popular unit on the market, certainly within our c/van world and eBay, so there is bound to be one or two little problems, a bit like Jayco vans, thousands on the road and yet people grizzle when they find a small fault in one??

We have the Voyager unit & it works well .
The problem is they can back feed power to the stop lights when parked causing flat batteries, however this can be eliminated by fitting a blocking diode in the activing wire which runs from the brake stop light switch to the control unit. This diode only works one way so be sure to fit it correct. It only costs a few cents.
