the travelling is a lot more stable with fifth wheelers because the load is shared between carrying and pulling thereby making it more pleasant
the size of some are a worry simply because of the logistics of getting in to some parks, once parked up and slide outs operational then I think they would be fantastic
watch the imported ones, some have been found to be a bit short in the road worthiness and reliability side, make sure it is a well known brand and has ALL aussy accreditation
overall with the above acceptions I think they are pretty grouse and well worth a look
The fifth wheelers definitely have lots going for them, relatively large ones can be towed by a smaller 4x4 ute e.g. Navara or similar but the negative side of that is that most of the carrying part of the ute is taken up by the van. Also if you were to take a roof topper boat, the roof space is lessen by the van overhang(I wouldn't be without my boat). Other than that they have heaps of positives, just look at any American RV mag and they dominate over there
HI-Roddam Both coments are good, Think of it as a home first,& a caravan second,I've been in my'n now for 3 and a half years,,(& i travel solo) Some people will not talk to you. (jealousy) Some will snob you,,& yet other people don't care what you have as long as you have a laugh & a giggle,, & I've also been verbally abused (only twice) for haveing such a big rig & traveling solo. But --H-ey -- I love it .
Wouldn't have anything else, Roddam. We've been on the road for 4 1/2 years now - it's our permanent home - and ours is only 25'6" (7.7 m), 2.7 tonne tare, no slide-outs (we've plenty of room), and built in Australia (Meadowbrook, Qld). Our 'prime mover' is a Mazda BT-50 (manual). As mentioned by others already, it's VERY stable.

Just ignore people like that, you choose what you want to buy and how you use it (as a solo) after all its your money.
