mmm get a life? i was on this forum just signed up again tonite to make a few comments then i will leave again as to why i left there a few people here that seem to know everything and know nothing i dont mean you Dave06 i talking about other certain people one female in particular and one male give me heaps i dont care i will not be here to see the comments all i can say is this forum went down the tube thats why i left yes i was a member of ABB and thinking of rejoining it

Anyone who is not happy with this forum and wishes to leave should have the maturity, manners, and decency to do so quietly and with good grace and not come back
anonymously to disrupt the forum.

Former members who wish to rejoin for "bona fide" reasons should feel welcome to do so, as should existing members who wish to make constructive criticism or suggestions for improvements.

unfortunately folks we are in a "transition" process, we have members here that belong to many forums and seem to think it is within their right to knock not only this one but others as well

there is nothing wrong with belonging to many forums although I found two was too much and so I retreated from the other one

we have some trolls at work undermining the foundation of the nomads with trivial gossip which they then take back to another forum and make light of, all I can say to you is for gods sake get a life, find something constructive to do with all your spare time

life is too precious to maliciously waste one moment of it!

I belong to and am true to only this forum for one reason, I am a traveler, nothing more, nothing less, I dont go to other forums as I see it as a waste of time I would far sooner put that time to good use and not create trouble like a lot of others

I am currently in the blue mountains chasing fishys, I have a half hour window for provisions then back to the battlefield, surely this is a much better pursuit than gossiping about what other fora are doing

I too get invites from other fora but I will stay loyal to only this one simply because it is "the best", we have the best folks in here with the best foundation built around travel

all I can say to you trouble makers is this, if you dont travel and only wish to create strife then why would you be interested in a travel orientated forum

we are rebuilding our numbers, as can be seen by the number of visitors as well as the ones who are resigning under different names, we have a great number of members who post occasionally and a big mob of regular visitors

the nomads foundation is still on solid ground and can easily absorb the trolls, we all have a common thread, we are travelers and not time wasters, leave that crap to other fora

just ignore the nongs and make this a good place to be, reject the drongoes and ignore the knowall go nowhere's

as for me I'm going back to fishing!!!

I am at a loss to see why people cannot belong to two forums the same way as they can belong to two clubs, hold two jobs etc. etc.

There is no reason that these two forums cant get survive in harmony as we are all adults with the same common intrest.

Instead there is this constant sniping.

I will be the first to admit I belong to both forums and enjoy both forums.

Aussie baby boomers, this is a site which should fit hand in glove with this site as this site is mainly for travellers and caravanners and ABB is for baby boomers who travel and baby boomers who dont travel

I am a member of both and I can say most of the strife is coming from the abb against the grey nomads just like your latest little post in the abb goinsoon,............. "oh how catty"

belong to as many as you want, waste your time in as many ways as you see fit but find something else to talk about! rather than denegrating other forums, if you dont like it here then resign!

I am resigning from both forums and will not belong to any because of two faced people like you,

Hi Goinsoon,   I suspect most in the abb and gn probably get on fine just like any other group....but there are some folk around who seem to get their jollies by trying to create trouble between the groups.

   I started this thread because a very recent member here with just 1 other post sent me a link to abb with no accompanying note and I felt it was very odd so I brought it out in public.
   Surely abb is embarassed by this kind of activity, it does little for their image !! This behaviour is not a good advert for retirement....too much time on some peoples hands with nothing real to do!     They might go and plant some trees and get useful!! We like our forum, as far as I can see, it works beautifully until some bored rancorous old f#rt comes along to meddle again.   Cheers Denise

Denise are you a member of ABB?If not join and you find that most of sniping does not belong to it.The majority of ABB members were and probably still are members of the G/N"s,and for that reason still have a look and indeed post to the G/N forum.One of the main differences between the two Forums is the fact that this Forum is not Moderated as keenly as the ABB Forum is.ABB have five moderators who keep a fair and open mind on the various posts.It would be a rare and serious event for a member to have a post or thread deleted.As I have mentioned in a previous post it is far to easy for any Jumped up Troll to join these Forums and that is why I suggest that at least a 3 day waiting period be introduced before postings are allowed from new members.There is no protection from false members joining either Forum at the moment.I will say that most of the Rat Bag posters get short shrift from the older members from both Forums.The reason that there are two Forums is because of the garbage that starts from where?you tell me.Cheers.Ibbo.

I have rejoined the GN forum and am also a member of ABB. I gave my correct name on my joining details and also contacted Cindy who invited me to rejoin. I left the forum in the first place as I was too tempted to answer some of the trouble makers who are still members here in a more direct manner, and didn't want to disrupt the forum. I may add that I still remained a viewer of GN due to the great contribution of some members and Cindy's editorials which I thoroughly enjoy.

Why my new username "Wonker"? This was a nickname for my surname when I was younger and I felt like a name change from Vic41. It is not an attempt at deception and this is my first post as Wonker.

Let me say that I strongly suspect that Xinaaswell may be one of your own GN members who resent the forming of ABB and are trying to build animosity between the two forums. I have seen no suggestion on ABB about trying to disrupt GN and in regards to maturity, I think that needs to be shown by some of the members who are most vocal about ABB on this forum.

My suggestion would be for both forum's to respect the other and the joint membership of some and to team together to eradicate whoever the troll is that is trying to disrupt both and bring them into disrepute.

Okay everyone. This is all getting very silly. As I have mentioned on numerous occasions, the grey nomads site and its forum are simply a place for grey nomads and wannabe travellers to get together to exchange advice, opinions and stories about their traveling experiences in a positive and encouraging manner. It is a wonderful bonus that many, many friendships have been formed through these pages.
Some time ago, a group of forum members decided, for whatever reason, to set up their own forum. Good luck to them. However, that forum has no links or relevance to this forum other than it consists entirely of ex and current members of the grey nomads forum. If people want to belong to one, two , three or 300 forums that is fantastic and they, of course, are entirely free to do exactly that and we hope they enjoy them all. All we can influence is our own website and our own forum and we are absolutely determined that it shall remain a positive, welcoming place for people to discuss all manner of travelling issues. We do not welcome or want negativity or personal abuse. We have worked extremely hard to encourage new members and to encourage a positive attitude on these pages we have no other motive other than to encourage people to enjoy traveling Australia as much as we do.
It seems however that there are a number of people who are determined to disrupt this forum and use it as a place to recruit to go somewhere else. The motive and the mindset are simply beyond me. However, we are not prepared to tolerate it any longer as we said we have worked too long and too hard to allow that to happen. Every day scores of new people come to this site looking to discover what the grey nomad lifestyle is all about not to read about petty arguments and rivalries between groups. If you are interested in sharing and learning about the wonderful grey nomad lifestyle then please enjoy this site for what it was set up for. If you are interested in other things, then please find a forum that is better suited to your needs. To whoever is responsible, please stop messaging our members about other forums. And to everyone, please stop discussing other forums through these pages. The army of wannabe grey nomads who want to learn about the wonderful lifestyle they are about to embark on are not interested and deserve better.
