Keep ants and humidity out of food in tropics.

Just recently the frustration of keeping ants and humidity out of my food, gave me some food for thought. Then logic kicked in.
I simply placed a doubled paper towel under the lid of the plastic "sealed" container and pressed the lid down to seal.
Would you believe it worked? Well it did.
Crispy, ant-free biscuits, sweet and savory, and nuts. Now that's a good thing in the tropics. biggrin.gif

We have been using the Lock & lock containers for many years now .They have a rubber seal & V/G for liquids ,they can fall upside down in the car fridge & dont spill.
Just recently found a new size that takes a loaf of bread & it keeps for days.

Once again storage space becomes an issue in the caravan. I only have small space.
I keep sugar and cereal in a plastic screw-top container and the ants can't get past the thread.
I use the paper towel in push down seal lids. The ants are very clever when it comes into finding food through tiny spaces.
Humidity gets into everything. I keep jams in the fridge, but then again it's all about space.
So the paper towel forms a dry seal to keep the moisture out. If you put biscuits in the fridge they flop when you take them out. So it's the paper towel for me.
There are you out there who have a house with a kitchen with cupboards have the liberty of choice.

As for the rain - there's heaps of it up here with the touch of thunderstorm.

Sorry Granny...I diverted........yes your idea sounds great......I unfortunately only have a campertrailer....with even less storage space.....and yes I'll be trying your idea....as all my food containers are in bins on the ground....and ants and spiders are a constant pest

What's that got to do with ants and humidity? Ha ha ha ha.
Oh yeah, the rain brings the ants out of very orifice and the biscuits go soggy in the moist air.
Look out for that rain!
Some places are desparate for it and others have had more than their share.
What a country we live in.
Just keep your sweets and savouries safe.
