Got my campervan!! Hitting the road end of April........where do I go????

Hi everyone - I just bought my campervan on Ebay - looks great and I can't wait to get going.  I intend to leave Tassie end of April and travel up the east coast of Oz to get eventually, to Townsville.  Is there any meetings, get-to gethers on that route in may/June?july?  I'm happy to go inland if there is something special going on.  I'd welcome any suggestions.  Cheers Rainey.  Is a UHF radio helpful/essential?biggrin

You can go wherever you travel bug leads you, you lucky thing you.
The UHF radio is of quite a bit of assistance when it comes to listening to other drivers, particularly truckies, telling each other about road conditions, police positions, and sharing your info with fellow drivers.
Channel 40 is the truckies' channel, some van tuggers use 18 to chat, and I think motorhome occupants use 20.
You can also scan to get the best of all worlds.
Safe and happy travels. Cheers

Well done Rainey !! A small hand held (say 5km range) from Dick Smith or somewhere similar can be handy for not just contacting trucks or other vanners, but also very handy if you break down or need help and your mobile is out of range for contacting passing vehicles for assistance. A good investment even if you hardly use it, but keep the batteries fresh just in case.

Why not come to the meet up in Mudgee Rainey.  Will be a good fun time.  See the Mudgee Sticky link.

I'd be very careful of going to Mudgee if it has a Sticky Link, Raineygirl.

It would be good to go, but make equiries about how the link got sticky, first !!

Hi Rainey,
Glad you got some-one you could rely on to check it out first. I was a bit worried there. If it's anything like mine, you're gonna love it.

Cheers,
xina.
