Mate of mine was an employment officer with QANTAS at Mascot. He had a great test for applicants for aircraft mechanics/fitters.He had an array of tools that one would normally use on a/c maintenance, amongst them was acertain tool that he considered taboo. If the applicant did not pick it out he usually did not get a job...............The Tool?A shifting spanner.Definite no,no.Cheers.Ibbo...

I work in a hardware store and you bolt list reminded me of a customer who came in for some help about 10 years ago .

An attractive youngish woman came into the shop one Thursday night asking for some help. It must of been winter because she was wearing a Cows football gurneys and little else. I thought it a bit odd that anyone at all would be so game to wear something like that down at the Port, she confirmed her level of intelligence and my thinking when she asked me a very good question.

You see gang she had as i remember two pieces of timber to fasten together and was not sure how to go about it. Instead of traditional fixings i thought it might be easier for her to use liquid nails and so sold her a tube.

After paying for the glue and a few minutes later she returned and asked me a very good question.

HOW DO YOU HAMMER IN LIQUID NAILS?

I kid you not !!! These is just so much i can take!
" Easy I said, "do you have a good hammer?"...."yes she says" I suggested she buy some new energizer batteries to put into the hammers handle to make sure those nails drove in well. She did too !
I kid you not !
As it happened !

To keeps things equal ...what about the fat guy taking home a very long piece of timber? I asked him at the check out what sort of car he was driving to get it home. He replied "a red one" ????? he had me a bit puzzled for awhile with that answer, when it finally clicked all i said to him was "I am glad its a red car and not a white or blue one."" Red cars are so handy!"

That must have been a very entertaining job Seonau.
Those articles I enquired about would have been very handy for some of those customers.
You'd have to go to the back room to get the laugh out of your system to be able to carry on.
