Iwould like to know too. Hubby and I are thinking about ditching our land line and we might get a second mobile phone so use skype instead.

What equipment do you need?

Yes, I use skype to talk with that I can't meet face to face.

The option of using video as well as sound is rather pleasant but does add to your use of the "quota" supplied by your ISP.

Where the connection is a bit slow, video becomes scrappy and affects the quality of the audio.

I like it, though, as a way of keeping in touch with distant friends, especially those who have a sort of phobia regarding the written word.

There do not seem to be any hidden traps and the 'how-to-do-it' instructions are reasonably clear if you understand yanklish.

There are all sorts of options available on a 'user pays' basis as well as the free service.

Pam, Skype is free to use on any fast internet connection.

They also have other paid services to which they seem to be adding weekly.

It's a worthwhile exercise to access their site and spend a bit of time digesting their info.

Ive been using skype for a couple of years, first at work, now at home. Its great for chatting to the grandchildren and freinds overseas. I just need a few other overseas family to get with the program. During Christmas dinner, we skyped the grandchhildren so their great grandfather could chat. He was amazed and thrilled with the process.

I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, especially travellers. We have an inexpensive webcam with built in microphone. Just make sure you plug it into the speaker jack, not the headphones or you will hear nothing. I used it on holidays with an Optus wirless dongle. worked great.

If you want to try it out, I would be happy to pm my skype name and we can have a go. it also has a test call which helps get you set up.

do set your privacy setting so only people on your list can skype you. Good luck, Im sure you would enjoy.

I've used the free one, didn't use the camera, just the ear phones and mike.

You will need to buy at least the mike boom and earphones, but if you want to see the other person will need a camera too unless you have one already built in, they will need one at their end too.

I used mine for conference calls with a few others you can all be online at the same time and hear and talk to each other, good if you get a few family members. I got fed up with the conversations breaking up now and then so gave it up after awhile.

Google Skype for more info.

goinsoon..............okay........molecular physics!!

The physics of the molecule is the amount of exercise that the molecule is able to perform. The stamina of the molecule is directly proportionate to the diet of the said molecule.

Nuclear molecules have a better stamina due to the Olympic dam structure and the microbes rotate at a faster rate, thus generating more heat in the Vulcrum chamber. Depending on the exercise that is required, bearing in mind that long distance running is inherently more demanding, the molecule is capable of about 50 or so push-up per hour. This is constant as the isotopes have a direct connection with the parallel cruciolates.

You with me so far....?? This the part where it gets tricky.............. IF the molecular structure is constructed from the left.........then the polar filters will only glow when the oxygen level is maintained at a constant 47 psi.

If the angle of the dangle is equal to the sag of the bag and the heat of the meat is equal to the thob of the knob....which is constant.....then the two balls are congruent!!

I hope this helps............... goinsoon!!

Ducky you have let out my secret thesis(whatever).I told you that it would confuse themorons, well that's what you called them.Remember our Oath, non sidi sed omnibus, que sara que sara cobber, mate.Hey nice to see that Mick has got rid of that Devious bloke he had with him ,looked a real shifty Willie nelson lookalike.Oh yes Ducky did you not mean the Plenum Chamber,I believe the Vulcrum one is no longer available.Probably some people would like to see us use the Gatz Chamber. The Dangle Angle depends on the direction (I dare not say erection)of up pointing and of course if it is right or left dress.I bid you a good morning Dux Ducky, one more thought that I implore you to keep in mind"Life is not all Black or White".Cheers.Ibbo.........................PS Morons is to be taken as jest, unless of course you are a Troll.lol.

Hi we use Skype to keep in touch with family back home while we are on our adventure. On Christmas Day we talked to our little grandsons back home in Tassie and was great to be able to see their Santa presents. Even if we were not home we could still join in their Christmas a little although it did make us a little sad :( being our first Christmas away from home I think you will find it great Happy safe travel to all

We use Windows Live Messeger which is a free download similar to Skype. It works perfectly for seeing and talking to the grandkids while we are travelling. Both parties have to have an internet plan of no less than 1500/256kbps. When first setting it up my daughter had a cheaper internet plan and all we could get was audio. Once she increased her upload speed all was good. Heading to Tamworth soon, hope the weather improves!

Hi. I have used skype for a while now , and its great to reach my far flung friends, eg- John in Bristol ,UK, my siter in Pomona, QLD. etc. A ll you need is a laptop, wirelss broadband, a webcam,(mines built into the laptop) and a mike(also in laptop). I have used it in Broomeand even at Cape York. No emergency calls , though, but what do you get for nothing. Bill

Another free option is MyNetFone which is similar to Skype in that calls from your PC to any landline in the country are charged at 12.5 cents a call with NO connection charge and are UNTIMED.

Calls to mobiles are at a cheap rate too with no connection fee.

Calls to other MyNetFone users are free.

We use the basic telstra landline plan @ $21 per month aso IF the Voip went down we still would have the landline for emergency calls, besides, almost everyone carries a mobile these dayswhich can access 000 calls.

As an aside, if you have a movie camera or even a digital still camera with movie option, this can be used as a webcam too.

Cheers Neil
