OUT OF CONTROL!!

Just like Granny I have to jump onto the soap box and vent my spleen!

A previous post by somebody on this forum mentioned an Islamic symbol on some food products sold in Australia.  Sure enough I looked on my Cadburys chocky pack and there it was "Approved by the Islamic Council' or some such.   I still ate the chocky but was annoyed at the precedent.

Today I was walking around and saw lots of businesses with Christmas glitter and other decorations on display as you would expect this time of year.  Sitting all alone and bare was Hertz Rent A Car.  I asked one of the staff how come no decorations.  I was told by the equally annoyed staff member that "Head Office" had instructed that no Christmas decorations were to be put up as it 'OFFENDS' the non Christian members of the puplic.

I am sorry but I have lived in Australia for almost six decades and in all that time I have never heard the Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Eskimo or any other of the peaceful lovely people living in Australia complain that we celebrate Christmas.  These folks have obviously taken to heart the part of the naturalisation ceremony where it mentions tolerance for all others beliefs and religions.

Where are we heading?  Christmas banned as a pagen ritual?     It really is getting out of control.   Bring back the tough old polititians who were not afraid to offend the minorities for the good of the majority.

Ian (fast becoming one of the grumpy old buggers) ANDERSON

Ask your grandkids if they made Christmas cards for Mum and Dad.  I bet they didn't.  Ask them if they have decorations in their class room.  I bet they don't.
Ask them if they were told the Christmas Story in class.  I bet they weren't

Damn but it makes me sad to hear that. If it's true I can only wonder where the the head of the Head  back in Head Office was at the time of making that decision

Two grandsons in infants school, two grandsons and one grandaughter in primary school and three grandaughters in highschool.

I asked each and everyone of them tonight what they had done at school in regards to christmas and they all said the same thing:  "We aren't allowed to do anything for christmas in case there are people in our class or school who aren't christians".

We wonder where our children get their views from as they grow into adulthood.

Look no further than the very place we send them to learn.

Ma.

P.S. I haven't even asked Guru's grandkids yet.

i dont mind people comming here to start a new life, or wanting a better life for there family, no matter what race they are or where they come from.
but to come here and start changing things to suit them is just wrong.. shouldnt be allowed.. this is australia, if you dont like it ********* *ff .... dont try to change our religious beliefes or things we love here in Australia, just because your not happy with it... leave us alone.. or join us in our festive season... it works both ways...
when I went to Turkey last year, I respected there customs, took my shoes of (albeit abit smelly socks) in some places, tried out there food..so any way thats my thought..

Become an aussie at heart or not at all...

Dave I think it was France banning the Muslim dress. Why can't we just let everybody get on with their thing in this country instead of pandering to various sects/parties/religions etc. It is nothing new. When I was in primary school any child who was "Roman Catholic" had to go out of the class room at the time of morning prayers. Why? Don't we all basically revere one God, those that believe that is. No offence meant.

That's just it Terry we probably should, but then so should they.

My promise to Brickies re: the "Anti Grump Team" precludes me from answering this topic.

It is ONE of my favourites so it is extremely difficult to keep quiet!! Nonetheless....we can't do much about it for this year................maybe we could band together for next year and start to do something about this problem rather than complain about it??

I am saying nothing until AFTER christmas........because I want you all to be happy...........think happy things...............look happy...................act happy.................spread happiness..........exude happiness................breath happy.

Get the idea??

We will band together and do something about next it year if all are willing.

"The Anti Grump Team" is watching you...........be very very Careful!!

everybody Happy!!! ears blocked to the real world, LAH! LAH! LAH!

so easy up here in my glass castle, watching the eagles soar and the roo's finding shade, and the sun playing hide and seek within the gum tree lined creek, I stop for a second to have a wee and I have a chorus of magpies laughing at me, and I guess well they may

I sat in absolute awe last night as a huge fiery sun backlit the spencer gulf to such an extent it actually hurt the eyes, then as it slowly faded into a huge red glow the citys lights, port pirie, port augusta, whyalla and slowly lit up the void, to see the sparkling of the citys lights mingling with the moonlight flashing on the water was pure magic

so beautifull it took my breath away!

but the reality of life is not so positive, we are in a changing world, an evolving blackness is steadily creeping into every orifice (I know 'cos I checked my undies and it's already in there)

the day's of a penny buying enough lollys to guarentee freindship from all kids within a 2 mile radius is over, the world we now live in is a frightening place

we have terrorists who would rather have their ten million virgins hot and crispy, hell what about kings cross, granted they are far from virgins but then muslims are from from religious

we live in changing times, I would dearly love to lock the outside world out and become "fortress australia" but we cant

times are changing and not for the better, the world is now not such a nice place, but we only have ourselves to blame

we voted our namby pamby pollies in, we dont hold them accountable for their actions, we just sit back and whinge

we dont contact any of them, we dont hold mass demonstrations, millions strong and say "we're mad as hell and we aint gonna take it no more"

no we sit in here and vent our fury at the keyboard

me, I sit up here in the glass castle, and through the marvelous technoligy that is the telling bone, helping as many as I can and just watch our beautifull world!

just try to make your own little community as special as you can and try to change the things, like your local school that you dont like

anyway enough drivle, back to work! for me!

my all time favorite song is "what a wonderfull world" by the big feller

I can only agree with him and shed a tear whenever I hear it

I will bring my camera up here "one day" and show everyone the view from "my office" before I finnish!

marvelous stuff!!! the only sunset that I have seen that even comes close would be the wet seasons up north!! scary but amazing

I whinge and grizzle with the best of them but hell with views like that you wouldnt be dead for quids!

42 exterior temp today! with a dirty north westerly, a wee bit warm and a yukky day! but the crops coming off thick and fast!

I used that song in a video once. We were on the Cooper Creek at Innamincka and a fella there runs a charter punt. Takes about 45 minutes.....takes you down to King's tree and gives a good spiel on the way. On the way back up the sun was setting and the pelicans were gliding about two feet off the top of the water, as they do and the rest of the wildlife was getting ready for bed. The water was flat calm.

I put that song in there and it came out very well. Very Happy with the result.

I don't know if he is still operating but if he is then it is a trip well worth doing and I can't remember how much he charged but it wasn't the earth. Well worth doing, I thought!!

It's not only Muslims. A mate who works in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese gives the Airline staff heaps. He says everytime he gets on a plane and is seated next to a Japanese they approach the jap, go through the bowing routine and then appologise in Japanese for having to sit next to a foriegner. Mate then responds in japanese and thanks them, causing much confusion and usually the offer of free drinks resolves the issue....

I really think this is going to far, you'll all end up with me in an institution if you keep this up, I propose a sing along perhaps some old favourites to lighten the mood, You can take your alfoil beanies and knickers off if you wish...

They asked me how I knew
My true love was true
Oh, I of course replied
Something here inside cannot be denied

They said someday you'll find
All who love are blind
Oh, when your heart's on fire
You must realize
Smoke gets in your eyes

So I chaffed them and I gaily laughed
To think they could doubt my love
Yet today my love has flown away
I am without my love

Now laughing friends deride
Tears I can not hide
Oh, so I smile and say
When a lovely flame dies
Smoke gets in your eyes
Smoke gets in your eyes

Some cole Porter perhaps?

Like the beat beat beat of the tom-tom
When the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick tick tock of the stately clock
As it stands against the wall

Like the drip drip drip of the raindrops
When the summer shower is through
So a voice within me keeps repeating
You, you, you

Night and day, you are the one
Only you beneath the moon or under the sun
Whether near to me, or far
It's no matter darling where you are
I think of you
Day and night, night and day, why is it so

That this longing for you follows wherever I go
In the roaring traffic's boom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you
Day and night, night and day

Under the hide of me
There's an oh such a hungry yearning burning inside of me
And this torment won't be through
Until you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night, night and day

How about a little Bing Crosby,

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

And THAT is a fact Basil. The Japs are very racially prejudiced!!

You only have to see them on the Gold Coast. They think everyone is lower than them!!

I would love to see the look on the airline staff's faces!!

I got asked to leave another forum just because I was presenting an alternative view on xmas.

I'd run a signature line that read:

"Why is it that we celebrate a hi-jacked Pagan Mid-Winter festival in Mid-Summer?"

All very much tongue in cheek, but a bit too much for the owner of the forum and a few other of the 'faithful'.

Mind you I had been carping on about inefficiencies and apalling attitudes of some in the Caravan Park and "hospitality" industry operators, so I probably stepped on a few toes there, too. confusewink

I might just have mentioned my belief in the "Unholy Trinity" of politics, commerce and religion some time previously, too.evileye

"Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all Men" (which presumably includes other genders) does not, apparently, stretch as far as other denominations, religious cults, beliefs, dogmas or just plain old cynics like myself.

"Be reasonable, do it my way" is more like it.

I don't set out to deliberately upset people, but I do take umbrage at people insisting that, because they have deeply held beliefs, that I should respect their views by not openly disagreeing with them.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/12/18/2775565.htm?section=justin

is a reminder that the festering season is not a thing of great joy for many in our communities.

I do wish that Christians would remember the line attributed to Jesus: "Love thy neighbour as thyself". Unconditionally.

I'll be joining the 'orphans' for xmas dinner on the Perth foreshore again this year, if body and soul permit.

You meet some great people there.

Well Rolly old Cobber, it matters not.... I agree with you but you have to realise as it has taken me years to learn these people with the strongly held beliefs actually don't have an alternative to fall back on. Reason, common sense and fact seem to be discarded because they have been brainwashed into beliving what they believe, such is the nature of the human psyche.
Some of us (and you are in this group) think for themselves, others let their lives be governed by the dogma of their faith. You can't argue with them, you are wrong they are right; period!

Isn't it a sad thing when people are asked to leave a forum for stating your beliefs or non beliefs.

It is saying......"We don't like competition to our system"

Rolly you are now strolling in my pastures and bleating the same tunes that I dance to

the A.B.C. report only reinforces that which I meet everyday and am entangled with every night, three in the last week on my calls alone, all young men in their prime, life is very hard for a lot of folk

I am not a "die hard" religious fanatic, not particularly religious at all in fact but I do follow the beliefs that are common in almost all religions "peace and good fellowship to all men" I would not belittle or condone those that do not follow the faith, some followers forget the basic beliefs common to all

Xmas is a season of great joy but can also be a season of great pressure to a sector of our community, we "lose" a great many of our callers during this period because results don't always measure up to expectations and suicide seems the only alternative

we, the lucky ones, wake up to a Chrissy tree and a lunch table full to overflowing and great friends and loot by the truckload, these folks wake up to another day of struggle to just to get enough food on the table

to face another year for some is simply too much

we have two parallel worlds here, the haves and the have nots and yet we overflow with bounty, I send enough wheat over the back every hour to make 3 loaves of bread that could help feed these people and yet we send the sheep in afterwards to clean up the wastage

I have said it many times, this is the only forum that I would belong to, but the minute it starts getting to be like the others then I will try to change it or simply leave!

too much infighting between drongoes does no-one any good
