Elliot river camping

Hi. I have just come back from  great, virtually free, camping on the mouth of the Elliot R nth of Bowen ,QLD. You turn off just sth of Guthalungra road house, which , by the way has cheap fuel . Great fishing , got some great whiting and flathead. vast yabby banks! The land is privatly owned, but the ****ey charges $50 a year! which is less than $5 a month!its a good dirt road . the only drawback are a few midges. A lovely spot.smile.gif

Sorry, but its not hard to find. Just go across the bridge to the sth of Guthalungra, and down the dirt road . Its about 4klm to the settlement  at the mouth of the river. I hope this helps you. I will be going back, for sure.

we went down there years ago.... was a lovely spot.  however when i got out of the car i was mobbed by midgies.   i couldnt breathe for them.   had to get back in and go.   must have struck them at a really bad time.  will return next time we are up that way for another look - it looked very crabby....
