Traveling with a dog and an old cat (21)

Hi, I am new to this, and intend to set out March 2010. done some short trips 10 days or so, wanted to know of any obvious pitfalls, what do you do with the beast when you go in to a national park, etc.

Sorry jeremy, everyone must be busy and missed welcoming you. I have had GN visitors so was enjoying their company.

National Parks and pets do not go together. In fact it is surprising how often pets get excluded.

I travel with my mate and basically, if he is not welcome, niether am I. NP are out except for short visits where he can stay in the vehicle, but NP are not big on my list of things to see.

The pleasure I get from him travelling with me, more than offsets for any missed area.

The devil made me do it - to hell with the Devil

The alternative is to either put animals into a "resort" for them for the day or if others are around you can always share the minding duties, you look after their pets for the day and they return the favour the nextday.

There are some NP's where animals are not allowed to be even in the vehicles.

You will find though a growing tolerance of dogs, some places are dog friendly especially if your dog is friendly, other places tolerate dogs because they know if they don't cater to your needs then you will take your busness elsewhere. Have a good read through my posts I always indicate if I find a dog friendly activity, cafe or whatever. I'll update now!
