DVA Benefits

Is there anyone out there in Grey Nomad Land, receiving DVA Benefits and on the road for more that 6 months of the year? If there is, how do you handle a premanent mailing address as required by DVA?confuseconfuseconfuseconfuse

GOF and Precious

GOF,

I have had my mail diverted to my sister and BIL place (he is also on DVA benefits). They check any mail, ring me if it is urgent and I decide whether they either scan and email the relevant paperwork or simply send it to me via snail mail. Have not had a problem with any Govt dept as yet. Goes without saying that I trust them with the personal details which may be in the mail.

Cheers

Lynds

Thanks Lyndsay, I was going to use my sister in laws address and do the same. Does not hurt to check with others.

Centrelink also make some rules about these things, and I think I've done a lot to educate some offices around the country.
There are lots of discrepancies in their interrpretation of their own policies.
The only thing I had to change was my car insurance. I was insured with RAC WA, but as my vehicle is no longer garaged in WA I had to change to a national insurer, currently ALLIANZ, and I've had to make a claim this year, soon after I changed over, without any problems.
I use my daughter's address as my permanent, she packs up the mail in a pre-paid bag and sends it snail mail to wherever I am going to be.
You can then report to DVA and/or Centrelink where you are, what rent you are paying and the rent assistance will continue.
Because this lifestyle is very common now, the authorities have had to adjust to suit us. Now that's historical in itself.
