Warranties

A lot has been written and said about warranties on caravans over the years. I didn't have much to say on the subject as I had never purchased a new caravan. However, last year, August 2008 we purchased a new caravan and received with it a twelve month warranty on the structure. As you are all aware the electrical fittings come with their own warranties. Now I'm not sure who is responsible for the warranty work on a caravan, the manufacturer or the selling dealer. I was about to find out as there was a structural problem that needed fixing. I approached the dealer, with some trepidation remembering some of the horror stories read on some forums in the past. The caravan is now 14 months old which I felt gave them recourse to say "sorry can't help". How surprised I was after outlining the problem, adding a couple of other small defects to be asked " when can you drop it in?" Left the caravan at the dealership repair depot and awaited the phone call to say it was done. Nearly two weeks went by and nothing. I called and was apologised to but they had been so busy that my caravan had sort of been overlooked. Next day tha caravan was ready for pick up. They had done a great job, no scars where the problem had been fixed and the smaller defects fixed as well. Smiles all round and good days expressed I departed a very satisfied and happy customer. So happy I needed to share this with you all.

Terry.

Hi Terro. Good to hear positive "feed back". Most is negative now-a-days. In most cases a dealer would've ducked for cover, and "passed the buck", as it were. Good on ya.
cheers Dellie

So where is this diligent dealer? We're in the market for a van, might go and see them.

Thank you!

Rosey, I see you are in Canberra. The dealership is unfortunately for you in Bayswater, Vic. Unless you are coming down to look around I don't suppose this is of much help. In case you are coming down, the Caravan, camping and 4WD show is on at Sandown Racetrack this weekend. The dealer we used is McKenzies in the World of Caravans, Canterbury Road, Bayswater, Vic and the brand we purchased is a Galaxy. Hope this is of use.

Terry.

Congratulations and well done.
It really is great to hear a good service story.

After all my crap with Bigpond over the last 3 weeks, they decided I didn't have to pay for the new mobile USB device or the postage and handling, and they gave me free month on my account. That was $299 + $85.95 + $10 P&H.
I was almost impressed, at least with the person who granted me those allowances.

The next good news story applied to my Medical Benefits Extras. I had to see the Opthamologist - cost $228. I receive $120 from Medicare, leaving me the $128 to find. I then phoned my MBE provider to see if there was any more I could claim. There wasn't, but they gave me a month's contribution credit. I didn't even ask, they offered without a blink.

So there still is kindness in this world. It made be feel a bit better after all my recent distressing experiences.

So with the pension increase I could almost be saving money. More for the diesel fund when I eventually get to hitch up again.

Let's have more GOOD NEWS stories.
