left townsville 3 weeks ago and have visited alice springs, ayers rock, kings canyon and just arrived at coober pedy ,can't believe how windy it has been, especially here at coober pedy.can understand why there is so much dust on the east coast.definitely different scenery out here.but worth the trip
staying here 3 nites then woomera then who knows where. roy& lorraine
While you are CooberPedy make sure you go and have a look at the Breakaways. They are only 25k's out of town and well worth a look. Bit of the local explanations there as well.

Yeah, all that dust is here in far North Qld. It's still hazy with that dust and smoke from local fires. Townsville has it too, but I don't know how far south it's affecting. Some people are experiencing voice changes without a sore throat, my eyes are constantly dry and sore when I'm outside. People with asthma and other breathing problems and illnesses must be having a hell of a hard time. A bit of rain to dampen it all down would be a good thing I reckon. From William Creek this morning on Sunrise it's still blowing dust from out there too. Bring on the rain!

Still bit of dust around this morning at Mooloolaba, bit of smoke haze, but otherwise a lovely day.All the dust down south made one feel so Grubby(Don't say it Chris).I had a surprise 70th Birthday party last Saturday night at Nelson Bay Bowls Club.I did not have any idea that it was going to happen. To say I was Flabbergasted would be an understatement.Sorry Roy and Lorraine did not mean to fudge on your post.Cheers.Ibbo.
how the devil can you get a "surprise" birthday, do you wake up one day and find out that you're seventy and say "well I didnt see that one coming, hell there's a surprise" "I'm sure I was only 69 yesterday"
sorry mate somone should have told you!! many happy's to you anyway!

While you are in the Woomera area go and check out the Olympic Dam. You can do a tour of the BHP Billiton mine, from memory Mondays and Thursdays in the am but I could be wrong. Ring the information centre in Roxby Downs that's where they go from. We did that about six weeks ago, what an interesting morning all for the princely sum of a gold coin donation to the Flying Doctor. The afternoon was taken up by a visit to Andamooka another opal town but very quaint. Good CP in Roxby Downs with excellent sites and facilities. Leave it with you.
Terry.

Ring a couple of days early if you want to do the Roxby Downs tour, we were in Woomera in April this year and found when we got there that the tour had been booked out for a couple of days already.
Geez Dave, the party was the surprise, not the birthday, or was it? Ha ha haGetting a year older over night is always a surprise I reckon. Happy birthday anyhow Ibbo, you grubby senior citizen. Cheers Chris

While at the Breakaways check out the Dog Fence....still can't work out how such a flimsy fence can keep the dogs out when it took that bloody great wall to keep the rabbits out of China!
Apparently it was raining in Coober Pedy this morning, so the dust may finally be stopped on its tracks. I washed Rosy yesterday because I couldn't stand to look at her anymore. I thought it was really a waste of time, but maybe not.
Jimricho, you've been watching Bigpond ads again. Maybe the Philipino Parrots have the answer to that query. They can't answer Bigpond questions without being prompted if it's not on the script.
