anyone in Tassie?

Are there any Grey Nomad members currently travelling around Tassie? I have been here 2 weeks now and haven't actually spoken with another traveller in 10 days; met a couple from the next suburb to mine back in Brisbane the morning I arrived, then a couple from Tweed about 3 days later. Have only had company at a campsite once and I must have become invisible as when I waved hello, they both turned their heads and looked the other way. I am currently at Narawntapu National Park, camped at Bakers Point [$13 up, $16p -for 2, no single rate] and it is a very beautiful spot, the dirt road in is good if anyone thinking of coming this way. Sunny and dam windy today. Up Parra!!!
Ok - hope to run in to someone over the next 7 weeks.
Cheers
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
we may be sitting at home, but your not invisible to us. All there with you in spirit, wishing we were having a coffee or red at happy hour. Enjoy your trip.

Hi Carolyn
We come from Tassie and are glad to see that you are enjoying your travels all be it the unfriendly people,I hope they wernt from Tassie as we hopefully known as friendly expecially to our tourists.Top Spot where you are . We used to take our children camping there heaps when they were growing up. If I can help you with anything on your travels please ask and will help, no problems. It is very Windy here in NSW at the moment too but is warm enough I bet it is freezing in Tasmania .Where are you heading to when you are there?I know the state very well as we lived there for 50 plus years and now of some top spots.
Happy safe travels,
Chris and Robbie

We certainly are there with you in spirit like John said.  We can't wait for next year when we will be there too.   Were going to go in February but evidently EVERYONE goes in February so we might rethink our schedule and do Tassie later in the year.  What do you say Chris and Robbie.  What's a good time to come, when it's not inundated with us GN's

Hi Ma,
Because of our weather it seems our tourist season runs from December until March April as the other months are a tad too cold but I reckon go for Feb as then the school holidays are over and the influx of people is slowing down, just be reasonably sure where you would like to go and take it as it comes I really dont think you will have much trouble finding places to park the van at all,What I would do though is book the Spirit reasonably well in advance.
Happy planning Ma and Guru and please if you need more help please dont hesitate to ask,
Chris and Robbie

Thanks Chris and Robbie.  Maybe we WILL go back to plan A then.  It fits in better with what we want to do for the rest of the year.

theres some pretty good specials on the spirit now, half price tickets!! bit cold there now but!

we intend to do a "winter" run one year just to see the snow, we have been there twice now and just adore the place but cannot for the life of me understand the locals, it is a big trip to hook up the van at launceston and drive down to ross, and an enormous undertaking to drive all the way to hobart

we go further for a loaf of bread

we went in january and also december, never had a problem finding a freeby, just the opposite the tourists mainly do the c/park thing and leave the freebies pretty much empty, especially on the west coast

Just wondering how you are dealing with the bad weather? Floods and storms hit Tassie according to our news.... hope you are safe and well.

Everything going well. Currently in Oatlands and it's just beautiful - lake is full and there are swans and other birds and ducks everywhere; frogs croaking too. Only person in camp here. Have just had 3 sunny days in a row and enjoying it all. Met some lovely people at Conara camp and meeting up with them later on. When the weather is bad - really bad - I just hunker down and either read or do 'inside' things - museums and the like. Lovely state and if I have any questions will be sure to put them online to you all.
Cheers
Carolyn
