what a lark

we pick up the motorhome tomorrow morning for an all expenses paid journey to darwin, the vehicle has to be driven back to home so we are doing it

costs us a dollar a day (5 days allowed) they pay all fuel, we will take her back and then fly home in ten days, cheap way to have a holiday

may pay to have a squizz at your local rental agency to see if they have any to be returned, it's a good cheap holiday

we are sitting here waiting for the pretrip tests to be done, I am not sure as yet and dont really care if we have to pay a bond or insurance a dollar a day is great for me, I will let you know when we get back as to what the costs were

I wasnt going up north again this year but I heard about this neat trick and couldnt pass it up

apparently there are vehicles to go back to their home port all over the nation, we were offered a motorhome to take back to cairns at $1 per day, but all we could get off work was another ten days

I can take however long it takes but my wife has got to go back and my son cant stay in care forever

but yep have alook at the website of a motorhome hire joint and just ask for "returns"

I think we leave around lunchtime for Darwin

we met a couple of "non posting" grey nomads up north, just back from alice who were taking a toyota camper back to adelaide, I tallied up 15 non posters while we were up north, going to a couple of their places when we get there

I have just got a signal on our laptop just up from hungry jacks, not sure if it is a legal one or not but it is working (we are on our way out of adelaide in our 6 berth from appollo motorhomes) beautifull vehicle

I just thought I would quickly post this info for you, hopefully I dont get shouted down for raving on again, but here goes,

the site for appollo motorhomes relocation deals is here http://www.apollocamper.com/reloc.aspx

the site for all the law stuff and costs is here
http://www.apollocamper.com/pdfs/reloctermsapollo.pdf

if they dont work then just cut and paste them into your search thingy, well worth the trouble

there is a charge for insurance and a deposit but it worked out real well for us, cheap holidays, we may look at taking one up to cairns or broome next year

as I say "what a lark" pity I didnt find out sooner

I have almost reached my destination and I phoned ahead to establish times and places for handover when the girl on the other end confirmed where I was from, I told her and she said "would you like to drive a toyota camper back for us on monday"

I replied absolutely, so we are going to change the insurance over to the other vehicle (at no cost) and take that one home

no airfare cost and $1 per day, all fuel paid and free camps all the way, a dirt cheap holiday!!

we will be doing it again I am sure, but not this year, I have seen enough of this highway for a litle while

well we returned the landcruiser camper this morning after our little foray, turned out to be a very cheap honkerday, very good and easy folks to deal with and made every thing so easy, we will definately do it again probably take a bit more of a break in between next time though

I reckon I know every damn stone on the side of the road between here and Darwin, the lizards got that way they were waving at us like long lost friends, be a while before I tread that road again

next one cairns maybe??

so now it's homeward bound to see what the wind has left us
