Any GNs know if you can buy proper canvas shower/toilet enclosures? I've seen the "automatic pop-up" models and they seem very flimsy (and I suspect the pop-up and down function would drive me totally insane because I have watched people trying it out and it does not seem to work very well). Surely something solid, with poles and tent pegs, exists? Cheers, Tony

They are available, had one that had no roof just walls made out of 24oz canvas needed a tree to sling the water bucket . Maybe one of the army disposal stores is the go Most of the general camping stores only stock those blow away nylon rag ones . Not sure but try the web site for OZ tents I've seen a site recently that had HD ones

I dont know why you would want a heavy horrible canvas one, I remember canvas and I would never go back to them
there are many very good shower tents on the market, I see them all the time on our travels,
if it is likely to be windy then a couple of pegs in the base is the way to go, they dry very quickly and resist fungus and mould/mildew, store in a tiny bag and take five minutes to erect
I think they are very good and a far cry from horrible heavy canvas
I've had one of those lightweight thingos made from nylon, I think they are brilliant , have been using it for 8 years with no problems whatsoever , Once you master the twist of the wrist to achieve the perfect circle it packs flat in a 2ft circle , and you can tie it to the annexe, and peg it to the floor, fit a strap across the top and you can rig your power shower easy, if you got the space carry a duckborrd or plastic mat, about 1 inch thick with holes and your set for years of trouble free use
We have been using the pop up style for several years. I works really well and gives me no end of giggles watching hubby struggle to pack it up at the end of a trip. He sometimes gets the fold up in one go, but more often has a few tries. I have found that locating it in the doorway of the annex is really handy. No need to go outside for the midnight trips, much more private and takes up next to no room in the annex. Easily pegs down in windy conditions. We mistakenly tied it to the awning arm once and then realised it had worn a patch through the nylon. Learnt from that lesson. wouldnt be without it really.

Thanks for all replies. Maybe canvas was not the word I wanted. I need something for the south coast of WA, which can be very windy, and I thought the flimsy pop-ups might not be the best idea. The Oztrail number, with metal poles, seems to offer the stability I want, so I'll check it out soon. Cheers, Tony
