the racq petition on removal of fuel subsidy

the racq   has been asking motorists here in queensland, to sign a petition to try to stop the queensland govement, from taking off the 8cents subsidy on fuel.         176,000 motorists signed it ( including me )                          so much for democracy   the govement wouldnt  even look at the petition.

"Fuel Subsidy"????
How did they justify calling it a "Fuel Subsidy"when they were still collecting more in TAX (their share of the GST) than they EVER provided as a so called "subsidy".
All they were doing is not collecting so much tax from fuel and collecting it some other way.

Cheers,
Peter
