Parks in the Tweed Heads area

Can anyone give me info about dog friendly  parks in Chinderah? I am in a static van, but planning my big trip to the opposite side of Australia within the year. I do however still have the mindset  of an armchair traveller and need to have a destination!!!
PS Your site is so informative, thanks to all who contribute!

Hi Carol

Welcome to the forum from Bob and myself (Monica).

I'm sorry to hear your older dog is not well, all you can do is give a lot of TLC.

Bob and I mostly free park but if you look in Camp 4 it will tell you dog friendly parks, also a lot of parks have signs out the front advertising that fact.  A lot will also permit you to have your pet with you if you ask, some might not like the dog inside but that is not a problem with you as you have your own van.

Happy travels and enjoy the forum .... Mon and Bob and the kids

Carol
Just looked at Camps 4 and found 3 sites

Stotts Island Nature Reserve 4km SW
Hogan Park 5km SW
Tumbulgum Rest Area 9km SW

Also, Murwillumbah Showground but they charge

All dog friendly, hope that helps

Bob

Hi Carol

big welcome from us as well.
Have a look in the 'travelling with pets' section and you will find a few sites listed which should get you started.
Not long back from a trip and had no problems finding pet friendly c/van parks away from the coast. Also found that most pet owners are quite happy to 'mind your dog for today-you mind mine tomorrow'

Welcome to the site Carol. If you don't have Camps 4, the later edition Camps 5 is out now, available in most major bookshops, some caravan parts shops, some newsagents and motorists organisation shops (eg; RAC/NRMA).

Also available direct online from the publisher;

Thanks to all for the info. And so timely.
I have a particular interest in Chinderah in that it's between the river and the sea, a temperate climate (speaking after an overnight temp of 3* in the SW) and not too far from a hospital; I'd like to continue do some work when I'm on my travels!
But thank you as well for the reference info. I'll gradually compile a list of books to study. Having seen the Toyota Coaster that friends have got, I'm veering in the direction of a similar vehicle after I've fished the reno here.
So I'm sure that there'll be lots of further requests for info! Thank you again.
