Hello Shazza !
I have tried to find out for you but I can't answer your question with confidence at this time.
I know that there are bans in remote communities and areas such as Fitzroy Crossing but Broome being such a tourist area, I doubt if there would be severe restrictions to travellers.
We were in Carnarvon last year and some outlets were only allowed to sell 2 litre casks to indigenous people and yet we could stock up with no restriction.
If I find out anything else, I will post a reply.
Enjoy your happy hour
Cheers! Liz

Well let me help you.
Fitzroy Crossing is "dry", so they've all moved to Broome and Derby.
You can't buy grog on "pay day" before midday. You can only buy 2 liltre casks.
The towns are "dry", ie no open alcohol containers in public places, but it's very hard to believe as you get around town.
Happy hour is well and truly practiced in the caravan parks, and some even get it right after they've practiced long enough.
There is no discrimination between the purchasers of alcohol. The law applies to everyone.
It's a law determined by the Kimberley Liquor Accor, a group of Police, health workers, local Government, the law fraternity and indigenous elders.
The grog laws are better over there than here in Cairns, where you can't buy casks before 4pm.
The law's introduced to protect a minority group affect the majority, but I'll rest my case there.
I hope I've been helpful, bearing in mind the laws are reviewed from time to time.
Safe and happy travels, and whatever enjoy your happy hour "practice". Chris

The relo's or at least the ones into sniffing petrol have found a new high in areas where petrol isn't available . The new buzz is Diesel and poly styrene foam . the foam when added to diesel liberates styrene fume and WHAM- O.

To those who have an understanding of Industrial Toxicology know the risk associated with alcohol pale into insignificance compared with the acute and chronic and terminate effects of inhaling styrene fumes. One thing they won't be doing it for very long.

Alcohol is the least of the indigenous worries when it comes to industrial chemicals

Add to the industrial chemicals the other illegal drugs they get into. Dope, grass, ecstasy and others are also out there.
Sniffing mothers hand a little can of petrol around the necks of their toddlers to keep them quiet, while mum has the head spins.
The restriction of petrol sales in communities has probably turned them to the diesel "****tail in a cup".
No matter what the system does to educate and take temptation away, someone will always find a way to burn the brain for the short term buzz. The headache must be horrendous. The brain just isn't built for such abuse, and then the whole system is affected by nerve damage.
We know the dangers, smokers know what can happen to their lungs, alcoholics know what happens to their liver and kidneys, but it doesn't deter them from their indulgence and addiction.
It's bigger than all of us.
We can only educate. No one can make the decision for these people.
There's also gambling which causes huge problems for all the community. It's all addiction.

Agree. You can't put brains in statues.

While certain sections of the community have the dole one week and tax free mining royalties to blow the next there will be people of all persuasions out to take advantage. Just visit Darwin's Mindel Beach Casino for a first hand look

One of my bucket list wishes is to audit the Dept of Aboriginal Affairs, or whatever it's called these days.
The other one is to audit Centrelink.

Some time ago they were pushing to get Disability Pensioners into some form of paid employment. So if they ask me, that's what I'd want to do.

I'll use the nomads as a source of information. Every state has its problems, but some have bigger problems than others. They haven't yet worked out how to address them successfully.

We see too much and become more cynical. The do-gooders take the passive approach, and patronise, using soft options. But there's no detrimental consequences to push the hard line.

Dave! Soapbox please?

There's a basic problem with asking pollies to do audits There's no votes in rocking the boat and Labor has always managed to win the welfare vote by giving till it hurts the yes of us.

Found in the NT that the relo's on welfare are like the so called third world revolutionary leaders they promise there followers a free lunch and a pair of thongs as a reward and they will follow their leaders through the gates of hell for it.

Trying to get figures out of pollies is an exercise in futility, again it's like Big Kev reducing migration all that happens there is the real workers that should get in have their numbers transferred to those coming in on family reunion packages. Nothing changes it's all smoke and mirrors

The Grey Nomad Party would sort it out, but with much more subtlety than Pauline Hanson.
Use the system to get the result.
And no one would have their hands up our backs, like Pauline. Poor love just wasn't smart enough to know she was being used and manipulated to express someone else's opinion.
I'll stop now.
Dave, where is that soap box

Thanks Dave, I'll bear it in mind.
That's the beauty of free speech, we can all do it.
