Progress Report - from a square peg in a round hole

Hi folks,
Getting used to life on the road has been easy and in a way not. But its getting  better. The Ovation repairs seem like they were fiddly bits that werent done properly on the assembly line, though would love someone to demonstrate the awning properly. So its holding up well, the Fiat Ducato 3litre turbo-diesel even better. Drives beautifully, if a truck can do that. Hate the people you have to deal with at the manufacturers. All sales b*****. Still havent used the TV or the GPS well Ive looked at it but I seem to get lost in a town anything bigger than Nyngan which is where I am at present.                                    My change in plan came about when I stopped on the side of the road after a few days roaming round The Flinders for a week.  I had a signal and rang my son at work at The Entrance (NSW) and told him he has to see this. Hes 26 and works with computers and lives his job (cos he doesnt have a life, I suspect). So I came full circle and am heading toward him. Hes arranged two weeks holiday and whilst I didnt like much being back in NSW, this trip is worth it.  I dont think he has my adventureist streak, but I dont know anymore. Ive always loved the outback and Id think he will never see it. Thought Id take him to Bourke,Charleville, Long Reach, Winton, Cloncurry, straight up to the Gulf territory. (went around in 72, climbed Ayres Rock etcalways promised myself Id go back. Hoped to shout my sons a similar camping trip but could never afford it).  Sorry to be soppy but a bit of bonding going on here, so Im thrilled

Will stay posted..smile

You go girl. We have to take these opportunities when we get them.
My kids are grown up and making their own lives, but I really miss them and their kids, and rabbits.
There will come a time when I probably won't be able to do this anymore, so I've warned my middle daughter, the keeper of the rabbits (and you thought I was joking) that I will probably set down close to her so she can "look after me in my dotage".
Hopefully it's a long way down the track, but it is a contingency plan.
So Sue, it doesn't matter where you track to, you can always change the track you take. I'm sure your son will appreciate the time with you having a look around.
You may even give him the wunder lust. If you come through Cairns and I'm still here, call in for a cuppa.
Have fun and enjoy. Cheers Chris

grab the boy and take him out and tell the bloody world that he belongs to you and you're doing a bit of bonding, I used to embarass my kids (still do at times) but they always knew where they stood with me

never be afraid to show your feelings, anytime anywhere, show him a little of your world (not too much or you'll put him off altogether, keep the bad bits hidden LOL!!)

hell, mine are out on my sleeve at all times, (read my post's) I dont give a stuff about what others think, I'm a bigger man than that,

never hold back from telling your loved ones exactly that "THEY ARE LOVED"

life is only on loan and the great maker can reclaim it at any time what if he died tomorrow have you told him you love him, better do it today, tomorrow may be too late,

I tell the dragon every night and every morning, I know what could happen, never be afraid of showing your feelings or you will regret it!!!!

as for this square peg round hole rubbish you are exactly the same as the rest of us, just trying to make sense out of a nonsensical world, find a path and walk it, dont like that one, choose another

life is a series of paths you choose which suits you best and change the bits you dont like, always strive for the one that will genuinely make you happy dont worry too much about what others will think, they are walking their own path, you concentrate on your own

soapbox back now!!!

Ah Dave, they broke the mould after you arrived on this earth.
The former proposal still stands, but I doubt the "Dragon" will let you off the leash. She's a bloody lucky lady!
If you know of a reasonable facsimile or clone of yourself could you point me in that direction? Quality is hard to find.
Your family is very lucky to have you at the head of your house. I hope they know it, in spite of the parentally inflicted embarrassment.
Take care. Chris

Get the soapbox out anytime you like Dave, you make a lot of sense pal.

I tell Irona I love her several times a day and she usually replies Yeah put the jug on yourself and while you're about it make me one also.

John

Ah, Dave, as always, you make me smile and thank you. And Chris, move over, I'm pushing in.  In fact all of you? - where do find these men? (though I had a good one for 25 years.............
I'm always learning Dave. you think you know about life then you take on another challenge and discover you don't know much at all.... which is usually my case. So this time, smelling the roses (or rather eucaltypt). Hope my son  likes eucalyptus.
By the way I met Peter'n'Margaret in Burra SA and a couple of solos male and female between Burra and Gilgandra. It's almost like meeting people you know...so good.smile Actually, Wilcannia has been my favourite so far. I like being a yobbo....and people are people - nice, friendly, living their lives. (black, white or brindle)....
