Camps 5

Saw the new edition of Camps Australia wide in a newsagent in griffith today.
Update for camps 4, Lake Wyangan page 153 number 962 water not suitable for drinking, cold showers only but the bonus is, there is power available.Three poles at various locations in the camp ground with a couple of power points in each.
Car started to play up 20K's out of Griffith so here for a couple of days while its being looked at.

g'day Gary, put my old faithfull camps 4 on ebay the other day and have ordered the camps 5, she's sold already, I grabbed all the updates for the old book off the website for it (38 pages) so somebody will be getting a bargain at a bit over half new price

If I save half as much money with the new one as I did with the old one then a happy fellow I will be

what was the problem with the vehicle, nothing too large I hope

Why would someone buy an outdated Camps 4? Obviously someone did, but I fund it hard to comprehend the concept of offering it for sale, let alone buying it.
Oh well, to each his own.

well the camps 4 is actually not out of date, all campsites are still current and with the updates still very much in demand, I know people who have and still use the camps 2 and 3 and are saving swags of money on them, it only takes two or three nights camping and the book is paid for

as for people buying it, they are as we speak bidding against each other right now to be the one to own it, looks like going very close to the original sales price

money very well spent I think anyway, but I am extremely biased

put it on ebay mike, it will sell and someone will treasure it, I have the camps 5 on order ( in no hurry I like to keep our local businesses in business, after all my job depends on it)

I have ordered the camps 5 with camp snaps with spiral binding as I prefer to see what I'm going into before I get there and it's a bit bigger at B4 size (I think, havent seen it yet)

it retails at $79.95, I would pay double that and still be a happy boy, the books have saved me thousands, it has the potential to do the same for anyone and , thats why I keep harping on about it

just recently in Tassie and victoria it saved me $364 ( 13 nights at an average of $28 ) and they were all fantastic, free or low cost camp spots so no complaints from here

if you travel any distance over any time span then you would be a fool not to have a copy of it

your no 1 would still have very good free relevent camp spots in it even now mike, they never go out of date!

just had another look at my  listing on ebay, hell it was all I could do to stop myself placing a bid for it

We are stuck in Griffith until Monday waiting for a brake switch, apparently i don't have a throttle cable it is fly by wire technology, as the switch is faulty the computer thinks i'm braking and backs off the power.
Way over my head, at least its a warranty job.
There are a couple of solo ladies here tonight on their way to Whyalls for the CMC function.

yeah that cmca rally in Whyalla, kicking myself that I didn't register for that, cant go anyway gotta work, but I will get to one one day, although not a great one for really big gatherings, 15 - 20 people is about my limit, after that it's all just noise, never mind, we are away again around end of April start of may, spend a week on a houseboat, feet up, the dragon at the helm, tequila sundowners, whiskey chasers in the spa, rolling at the whim of the river for a change, nights on the river bank, wish I was there now

I hope they sort out the throttle problem, modern technology is great until something goes wrong, I hate looking under the bonnet of our magna, dont recognize a damn thing, wouldn't know where to start if it stopped

my camps 4 book ended at $47 plus postage $9.60 so I'm happy, the book is off to a feller in Queensland and he's as happy as a pig in poop with the price, he cant wait to get it

they had a no 2 book on ebay that sold for $25 plus postage, havent seen any no 1's, anyway best of luck with the chariot and stay safe.

I saw the Camps 5 in Angus and Robertson yesterday. I didn't even check the price, but the book appeared to be the same size as No. 4. I do love my no. 4, although I haven't been free camping. I use it for the maps and other info. It's very useful whichever way I use it.
I'm amazed they're so treasured. Must be a good investment for a whole lot of reasons.
Good for you Dave. I learn more and more everyday from this site. I love it.
Cheers Granny

the camps 4 is the same size as the new camps 5 (B4 size) which is very good because the maps stay as a "whole" I dont have to turn the page to see the next section of map and as you know they are exceptionally clear and easily understood

the camps books regardless of age are extremely treasured and dont seem to go out of style they just keep improving, with the help of the travelling public, "YOU", if you find a new unlisted campsite please go to the website and lodge it so other travellers may benefit

I posted my bible off this morning and I miss it already "SOB!!!!!"

the camps book has sat on the seat between us for so long and for so many miles and so many great trips, it has been such a great part of my day dreaming that I feel I am having withdrawal symptons and I actually miss the thing, how bloody stupid is that

I'm here at work missing a book, mans going mad, but it's not a long trip (going mad I mean)

but it is off to enrich the life of another fellow traveller so I guess thats a good thing i'snt it???

I rang him this morning and just let him know that it is making a solo trip to him and to keep an eye out for it, it's not used to travelling alone so I hope it doesn't get frightened, I let him know that it will need comfort and kind words upon arrival

he seemed a lovely gentleman and good to talk to, as are all travellers, so I'm glad it is going to a nice home,

but looking forward to the new bible and the travel experiences we will share together

Is camps 5 just the free camps or does it include all camping places?
I like to know if there are powered sites , showers etc.

all camping sites are in the camps book, including c/parks and low cost camping spots and freebies, it will tell you if the site has showers and power and if there is a charge for the camp
