Mike, the best part of life is upon you and I would like to wish you all the best that life is about to offer you and your fantastic eversuffering better half

I suggest going into great detail for days with your future, pour over maps and travel planners and write up a big itinerary, it is so enjoyable choosing a direction and writing it all down to produce a very definite plan, THEN THROW IT AWAY!!!!

if it was me ( and I really wish it was) I would shoot up the great ocean road to the mount, stay for a while and soak in the south east, stroll leisurely back and then up the east coast grabbing every lovely little second of the scenery and the people and places, set a spell at various locations, take your time, you have plenty of it, arrive in cairns at the end of the wet and just "sniff" the air in the rainforest's "soak in" the "new smell" of a forest with water tanks topped up,

nip across to Darwin, see the markets at sundown, grab a big muddy and catch a Barra or three, dodge the matching suitcases on legs and have a laugh at the japs

god I am SO BLOODY JEALOUS, life begins. good luck to you, make it safe, enjoyable and LONG!!!

You lucky things! What are you doing with all your 'stuff' from your house? Are you storing it all, or letting it all go? What are you doing about mail redirection, or do you have family to help out with that side of things? Very interested to hear about your progress!

Are you leaving in Autumn? If so I'd take my time and go up the east coast timing my arrival in Cooktown around early Sept, then head south east and do the Qld interior befor the summer heat and do Darwin in the wet for a different perspective....OH you'll get the drift once you get on the road....

Yes, well I'm still a little bit a dither as to what to do as well. Wrong time to head across the Nullabor I am now told, so think I will just relax around SA for a bit and go up the middle, in late April? Who knows, as Dave says, it changes every 5 minutes when you talk to someone else!! LOL!!

Bubs, dont dither just ponder, where you go and what you do is tottally in your hands, its all new at the moment and a bit daunting but hell grab the chance while you have it and go and see STUFF and THINGS and do ALL SORTS, there's heaps to see and do and it is all YOUR'S for the taking, god I wish it was me, no pondering for Dave I'd be gone

hey there, it's taken me almost a year to get ready, so many factors, the only one i'm not bothering over is where first, in what order, how long for here and there and so on. best thing is go where the wind wants to take (especially on the nullabor lol) you and i reckon as long as it doesn't blow straight up it doesn't matter. i wish you and yours a very happy, safe trip. cheers. shadow.

Our philosophy has always been - that as soon as we hit the track - the watches go out to window - no time schedule - no fixed itinerary

Our itinerary was always to be - that if it be summer - we head south
If it be winter - we head north - as to where - not sure and hopefully we wont care LOL

By the way -
We are very jealous - but out time will come - have at least had some lookers at the house now.

Well, the big sell-off has begun - we are selling almost EVERYTHING, and how cathartic it is. We will be pulling up stumps on 23 March and have basically decided that we will head up the east coast very slowly. Easter might prove to be a bit of a hassle and I am going to have to do a phone around to see where we can get in for a few days and work around that. Prior to all this, we take possession of the caravan next week and the week after will do a 4-5 day shakedown trip - most probably down to Inverloch. Depending on time, we might do another 3 day trip after that.
