Having become a newish grey nomad we decided to sell the family home in sydney and and set up a Bush Base where we can have all the comforts of our home furnishings when we are not travelling. We were very surprised at the low cost in doing this and the benefits of having a base to come back to during our trips. Nothing like the cost of maintaining a home in sydney and the wide open spaces, lack of pollution, peace and quiet and the wonderful country folk have made it worthwhile. I would not hesitate to recommend this lifestyle to any grey nomad, sure beats storing your furiture etc. We bought a 3 bedroom renovated cottage on an acre with undercover storage for the caravan and car with 2 carports for visitors for less than $100,000. Thus leaving a tidy sum in the bank to keep us going and the kids and grandkids just love the country life and open spces to play in.
The only difference being to rent the place out for the first 12mths to help with fuel costs.Mind you we are under 50yrs old and I plan to work a bit of the time to keep other costs down.
Let me see now,"sea change" OR "Tree change".Na,I rekon we will get both with a "Tyre change!!!!".HA HA...Glenn.
