The showgrounds are closed for renovations until the end of 2012. You can pull over near the Info Centre and Calico Cottage, but it's right on the highway with a lot of trucks going by. Stayed at Texas, Qld, Dumaresq River camp last night - CAW 5 #802 (actually in NSW, the camp) - lots of room, rubbish bin, and available in town, hot showers, dump point and water at the council depot as well Good shopping, two supermarkets etc..

At Normanton - free camp on the north bank of the Norman River - about 2k from town - 1k as the bird flies - free two night permit from Visitors Info Centre - Ranger comes and checks - bit dusty, and bumpy - no facilities. Ok though.
