Roof Top Boats- Are they worth having
(Preview)
We have been travelling down the east coast and have seen quite a few cars with a roof top tiinny on. We had to sell our boat when we started caravanning as it is a bit difficult to tow everything around this big country. It has got us thinking maybe this is the way to go. Would appreciate any input on the pros...

International phone calling cards
(Preview)
My Belong mobile phone plan does not permit international calls but I need to make about half a dozen calls to the UK each year so the obvious answer appears to be an international pre paid phone card and this is where it gets confusing. Google reveals many cards but as soon as you look at their individual...

Hello All, Soon we'll be travelling west to Thallon and possibly Charleville (night sky + WW2 drive yourself tour), then looping back to Brissie. I'd really appreciate any suggestions on what else there is to see out there along the route. To better understand what I'm trying to glean about where we...

VAST TV Service
(Preview)
For anyone who has Satellite TV via VAST this information may be helpful. We got Satellite TV from Albany TV Services in September 2013. As an aside, if you are in or near Albany and are looking at satellite TV, pop in and speak to Neil, really knowledgable and helpful. We used it frequently and in fact wh...

HOT WATER NOT WORKING ON GAS. ONLY ON 240
(Preview)
Hi. We are having trouble with our Truma Model B10/B14 hws. It only works on 240 and not on the gas. It used to be ok but since experiencing a few rough roads we turn the gas hws on but it soon turns off. Yes the bottle was turned on and yes we had removed the cowl. Any ideas? Kim

People putting black water down the grey water system
(Preview)
We are parked up next to a Caravan couple and they put their black water from a cassette toilet down the grey water drain. There is a Dump Point not far away, and I think it disgusting and very unhygienic. I am interested to know what people think I should do about it ? Its only the second time I have seen this...

Towball scale

I have a scale for checking the weight on the towball, so I will obviously check the towball weight just before I leave home. But assuming that I am not planning on adding any substantial weight or shifting things around in the caravan, do I need to bring the towball scale with me? I am trying to minimise w...

CURIOUS - Do all caravans leak?
(Preview)
I've just commenced building an 18' totally off grid van. One of the most important aspects for me is that it DOES NOT LEAK. Online research and anecdotal evidence suggests that perhaps a HUGE percentage of vans less than 10 years old leak. Stories of roof leaks, window leaks, seam and corner leaks...

Lightening tow bal weight on a Jurgens Travado
(Preview)
Hi All, I have a Jurgens Travado with a tow ball weight of 280 kilos. With gas bottles etc this is taking my tow ball weight beyond my tug's recommended tow ball weight. The spare tyre on the Travado is forward of the axles. Has anyone moved this to the rear of the van and would it take some tow ball weight of...
