To date when I have gone solo for short periods I have worked my budget on $1 per Km, average trip would be about 10 to 15 000 km in 6 to eight weeks. I was just talking to my Mum on the phone and she said she had just received her electricity bill. Keep in mind that this is a little old lady who lives on her own, has off peak hot water, gas cooking and doesn't have an airconditioner. She said that the bill was $432.87. Said she nearly fainted on the spot....
