Looking for a Customer Service Person who knows their product

We saw a Baileys Brand step ladder in a chemist shop last week, just what we need. came home look up Baileys website, no luck. Rang their customer service number and asked about this one .It has a folding, split top platform rung.  " sorry sir I don't know much about ladders " " Can you send me a photo?".  Another sign I am getting older. cheers Craig

School I work at has an oven with a stuffed door - the plastic keeper that stops the glass from sliding out when the door is opened, simply doesn't! The whole lot, glass and keeper falls out unless the door is opened carefully (good luck getting kids to do that!!) - so, in my capacity as General Assistant (aka general handybloke) I emailed the suppliers for a cost top replace.

Response "Customer Support are not technical, so we are unable to determine whether the part is faulty. You will need to have a technician call - at an estimated cost of $150 - to determine the fault. Country areas might have higher costs."

Seriously? I TOLD you what the problem was, Just bl00dy tell me the cost of the part and I'll install the damned thing myself! Not paying $150 for a tech to tell me what I already know!

GRRRRR!

We had our Navara serviced at the local Nissan Dealer yesterday.

We put it in early & waited for it to be finished (Express Service).

After an hour & a half the Customer Service girl approached us & said that it was finished but it needed a steering fluid flush/refill.

This would add an additional $182 to to the cost. We said yes OK.

Five minutes later our car was ready to go.

If you divide $182 by five minutes it works out at $36.40 per minute.

Not bad work if you can get it.

Working on an average 8 hour day at that rate it works out at $17,442 per day or $87,360 per week.

Hope you checked the fluid colour and had a smell. They must have used a Dyson to suck that quick.

Probably not, but the price smelt a bit rank!

Not quite as simple as that - hourly rate plus materials used, and waste disposal levy (for getting rid of the old fluid).

Yet another reason I do not take my Navara to the Nissan dealer! Have only ever used my local Repco for services (after the initial free one!) Helps that I have been using that particular servioce centre since the current owner was an apprentice to his father! (in the order of 30 years, now!) They know me, and my vehicles, and more like family than a business relationship!

I take my cars to franchis dealers when new and 20k service . Just in case thereâs things they check and fix with service . We do our own . Changing fluid is easy . But they have to make money somewhere ?

I bought some new tyres at Tyrepower last week and asked them to grease universals, etc while the car was up, as I have difficulty getting down onto a garage creeper these days. They did all of that and adjusted the handbrake, all for $50 extra. Then they said I need two new disc rotors, new disc pads and a new front wheel bearing for the Cruiser. Total cost, including labour - $1330.00. I can buy all of the parts (same brands they use locally) for about $400 and another Cruiser owner who is a retired spanner spinner will help me fit them free.
