No Fixed address

I am in my planning stage at the moment (Who only knows how long that will be) and over time will ponder questions to the life on the open road.

When I leave, I have no plans returning any time soon to WA but eventually will come full circle and keep going.

I presume my question may have been asked a few times before, but what happens with rego renewal for car and caravan?  How do you redirect mail to somewhere I do not know where I will be?  My home will be on wheels and the weather dictating my destinations.

Hoping to be heading off into the distance to discover myself and to see places that I have only read about.

Mick

Hi MickSolo68,

Welcome to the forum. As I'm not in that situation I can't answer you, but may I suggest that you look above and click on "search" then type in No Fixed Address, also Full Time on the Road and previous discussions on the subject will come up. Others will come along directly to help you out too. Cheers.

Welcome to the gang Mick, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I hope you don't live in 'Wolf Creek' and your last name isn't Taylor, with a name like Mick biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Now, I did the search that Gayle said and there is heaps of stuff there for you to read.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Hi Mick

I'm on WA Reg. I get them both by email. I do keep a PO Box which one of my daughters checks on occasion for me. The post office email me when something is in there too, so she doesn't have to go out of her way if nothing is there. She bundles up everything when I know I'm sitting still for a while.
I run a tight ship with regards to all my bills, so I know when they're due and usually get in before they're due. You can look it all up online too with Dot. That's their website and you just plug in your rego # or license # and it's all there.
The photo on the license is one thing you have to overcome, but you can just do it like a passport. I.E get the photo done, then fill out a form and have someone ID you.

Hope that helps.

Grubster

Hiya GrubbyGypsy, did not know you were on this site as well....

To the original poster, we have been on the road now permantly for 7 years. We have a postal address in Queensland (my sister's street address) She opens our mail, and advises us of anything urgent. Most of our bills however, are automatically bank paid, or can be b-payed. Sister (THE POST MISTRESS) scans our mail and emails us the important bits. Every now and then, she posts us in Express Post envelopes that I have supplied. Works for us. When our Drivers Licence has been up for renewal, if we are out of state, we have still managed to renew it.

We've been on the road since '07, use daughters address as our postal address.
All bills and banking are done on the net or direct debit.
Before you leave visit your electoral office and have yourselves taken off
by telling them you are an itinerant that way you won't have the hassles
of finding somewhere to vote.

Hiya Dunmowin

I swing by here and there when I get time/inclination.
I had a read of your blog the other day. I'm trying to make up my mind which direction to head next. Good read.
Hope it's all going well for you.
