G'day mate

Several years ago, my missus needed one of these things - she tried the Phillips [too noisy] the Fisher & Paykel [too bulky] ended up with a Resmed

Bought it on-line for 2/3 the Aussie retail price - even tho they are all made in Singapore
It ran quite well on both 240v and 12v, the humidifier worked 'real good' too

She tried 4- face masks with #1, #2, #3 all being solid moulded plastic and a real bugger to wear, until she found a silk fabric one that finally allowed her to sleep easily. After a year or so, her poor sleeping symptoms went away so we sold it some time later

Hope this helps, Phil

Wife has a resmed running 240v through invertor. Found that through the invertor used less power than the 12v adapter. I guess it would depend on invertor quality.

Son had a Phillips and the newer ones are quieter than they used to be. Still think the latest Resmed is ahead.

I've had 3 units. My latest is a DeVilbiss automatic cpap often called an apap. It is 12v with cigar type plug or 240v for home use. It isnt as cheap as some at just over $1000 but it is very quiet and faultless in operation. I have got use to the mask. About 2 a/h https://cpapvictoria.com.au/devilbiss-automatic-cpap-total-package.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwlcXXBRBhEiwApfHGTc-2uufXy_IpFRcUe1Wyo_ICT8PLxsrcecRTEoMcjGm_Tn5uM9mxZRoCPx4QAvD_BwE

I have the same s the last unit above. Great unit. Only downside is size and weight. (It is still smaller than a lot). If worried about power use consider using the humidifier as cold water passover system with a heated hose. Full tank will last nearly a week. Works very well and used this method for over 10 years. If travelling and unplugging a lot I am considering the new resmed mini. The biggest downside to this device is the price and the cost of the replacement mini humidifiers which are in the hose. The upside is all up weight is under a kilo including humidifier and power supply and off course the size.

I have a Devilbiss Intellipap 2 DV64 series which isn't available in Oz, has worked very well for a couple of years in the motorhome running on 12v direct with humidifier running as well. Has quite a small footprint for a full sized machine, bought from the US at a fraction of the local price.
At home I have a Phillips Respironics which will also run on 12v direct if needed.
I avoid Resmed as their machines run on 24v so need a converter which uses more power if run from 12v.
I also avoid them as even though they are/were an Australian company their machines cost up to three times more here than they do in the US, they also have an exemption from the ACCC to get around price fixing regulations which is also anti Australian.

G'day phum, I have a Resmed S9 with a battery back-up. I've literally been around the world with this machine and several caravan trips too (and I worked FIFO for nearly 5 years). Great machines, quiet and reliable. I would say an inverter would be the way to go as the 12V accessory is extra. Some Chemists (Pharmacies) have a CPAP specialist that would be able to assist with your enquiries. Good luck mate and best of luck.
