Opening of the the Waltzing Matilda Centre

Yesterday saw the start of 4 day carnival for the opening ceremony of the new Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton Qld.

Would have been a bonus to be there, but the Temp. for today Friday 20th is 22 to 34 degrees.

At 34 degrees, it would be to hot for us.

My view is.... I think it would have been a better idea to have had the ceremony during the peak period of us grey nomad outback migration during the winter months... like I said my view.

Having said that.... we will visit Winton during our 4 month trek to the outback from about Mothers Day next Month and be home somewhere around Fathers Day.

Do you have any plans on visiting the Waltzing Matilda Centre Winton Q.?

Or are you out at Winton at the moment and what is the festivities like in the town?

Is it what you expected?

Great to see the Waltzing Matilda Centre reopening we spent most of a day reading and exploring the centre before it burned down, it contains a significant record of our culture and history and we highly recommend a visit.

Hope to be in Winton late June on our way to Adels Grove. Looking forward to seeing the centre. Saw the old one 5 years ago.

We looked at going, but how many grey nomads would have been prepared to pay the $400 for the festival and the $500 for the camping?
