Torrens creek to Barcaldine

hello all; travelling across to the West from the Atherton Tablelands and stopped at Normanton by the Fitzroy in flood. Waiting at Karumba for it to ease, then Cyclone Nora began to form, so toddled back to Charters Towers. Now plan on heading south and going across the Nullarbor instead. Has anyone recently travelled the Torrens Creek to Barcaldine road ? Just wondering about the 30 kms of unsealed section near Torrens Creek. confuse Thanks, Tony.

Have not travelled this year but if there is any hint of water on road it will become impassable towing a van - very heavy red mud. Check with Carters Towers and Winton Police.

Thanks P3, With all the wet stuff hanging around Ill probably take the safe route (our van is not off-road ) and head south on the A7 to Bourke via St George and Cunnamulla and across to Broken Hill etc. Thanks for your input, regards Tony.

With Cyclone Nora coming back in over Karumba the chances of mud in the area pretty high - Cunnamulla is a great place to detour through - the Publican at Cunnamulla Hotel an absolute top bloke, he helped us out on a weekend when every thing was closed - he went down to his shed and got a part for us to make a patch repair to carry on.
Have a meat pie at the cafe' three doors down from the pub - legendary.
