Telstra and Boost..the ongoing argument

After the comments from some on here re Boost not being a part of Telstra I would like to produce a receipt from Boost that I paid from my PayPal account for a prepaid mobile sim and service. This is from yesterday Friday 19th January 2018.

As you may note Telstra clearly is the "merchant" and the service is "Boost" unless Boost are using the Telstra name illegally but I dont think Telstra would tolerate that for one minute.

When you contact Boost there is a phone number provided for anyone changing from Telstra.

This is only for Telstra customers....

Once you have received your new sim card and contact them on the phone they then transfer your call as they did in my case to a Telstra contact to change the Telstra plan. Telstra do their side of the transfer and then give you another number to call Boost after 24 hours so that the Boost sim can be activated. While I was on the phone I asked if Boost was a part of Telstra and the answer was a simple "Yes"

BAZZA 44 and some others deserve an apology from some on here....you know who you are...

137 pages on the one topic and although I didnt read every post the general gist of the theme on the the topic is the same as some posts on this or other forums...and that is many opinions without much fact.

The topic ran for about 6 months and it is dated back at least 5 years.

Aldi uses the Telstra network, I wonder if they operate on Telstra paperwork? ....Genuine Question!!

Is there a current Aldi user on here?

Yes - this is an ongoing discussion - but there is no argument - having travelled just about all over this country over the last six years - Telstra is currently the only service to have good coverage consistently - the others, even the generic "Telstra" i.e. Boost - are great in and around cities and large towns, maybe - but Telstra are the superior service.

Boost has and uses the entire Telstra network, unlike other resellers such as ALDI which only have access to the network in major metropolitan areas.

Boost's down side are their slow data speeds as they only have access to Telstra's older data networks and also the very short expiry periods for each prepaid top up when compared to other resellers.

If all you want is a low value (ie $10 or $20 prepaid) SIM top up for just calls and text, Boost provides the best value offering but you'll find yourself topping up every month just so you don't loose your unused credits.

ALDI on the other hand have a 1 year expiry but don't have access to the entire Telstra mobile network so once outside major areas you get nothing.

I have Boost for 6 days now...
Not an acceptable period of time for an accurate assessment however during this time I have travelled extensively on the eastern side of the Eyre Peninsula.
Although the data speed is slower it has still provided satifactory speed for watching movies via Netflix.
I dont play computer games so the speed I have suits my needs.
During my travels I have found the phone service to be exactly the same as my previous Telstra account.
I can speak confidently on the phone reception on the Eyre Peninsula because this is the major area where I operated my business over the last 22years.
I had a mobile phone before there was any service here and was using a mobile the first day device was switched on over here.
I have watched Telstra grow over this period and know all the areas where the phone did an didnt work as I was out in the field almost every day.
Over the last 6 days I have not found any area within the eastern Eyre where the Boost service was less than the Telstra offering.
I have always been with Telstra and found that when using an IPhone I always had the best service.
In a weak moment about 3 years ago I bought a Samsung 6 with the blue tick....It lost service in a lot of areas that the IPhone worked.
I have gone back to the Apple product with an immediate improvement in phone reception.

The purpose for posting this information is to point out that there are other parameters that need to be considered when comparing phone services.
When I was on the phone to Boost I asked the question about phone coverage and was told that it was the same as Telstra.
Maybe they lied to me...time will tell.
As I travel this year I will assess if my decision to use Boost is a failure or has been a worthy decision meanwhile I have the difference between the cost of the two providers in my pocket and not in Telstras.

Another topic has been started on the forum and it has some information regarding this topic so I thought it worthy of putting the link up in here.
