Compressor fridge V 3 way .

We have been away free camping over a week now . The  new Vitro 230l fridge freezer works a treat ! No more switching over to gas, checking temps .. It just works and does its job . Batteries are full charged on float be 10am . Its marginaly lighter than old 3 way yet slightly larger capacity . I can just hear compressor but doesnt annoy me at night .. One of the best things I have changed. Nothing like set and forget temp and running .

Gday...

I wonder how many 9Kg bottle refills (each fortnight or so if using gas 24hrs/day/7days a week) it would take to equal the cost of the solar panels and batteries and any installation required.

Jest sayin' confuse

Cheers - John

DAC7D221-D3D1-464D-912E-AE82010251DA.jpegLPG lasted about 2 weeks . Ok if on east coast . But 9kg bottles get pricy out west . 400 watt solar and 320 AH batteries. 60 amp charger when generator is started or on 240v mains . Doesnât need main or generator ! We often start it to boil jug rather than use LPG . Generator is diesel and uses fuel from main motor tank . So no issues refueling seperate tank . The main thing it OPERATES like a fridge freezer should ! Lettuce lasts over a week now ! The ventilation for 3 way helps compressor work more efficiently over the portable 50l Dometic . Only 10 Watts more power consumption considering the size difference . I wrapped the rear of fridge with insulation before fitting . Removing and fitting through window wasnât as hard as I though ! Did it mainly myself . Mrs helped getting old one out .

It looks like I may be going down the track of installing a 110 litre 12 volt compressor fridge, in the not to distant future, AK

It is the only fridge of that size, (I could find), which has a real, and not a salesman "T" climate rating

Can you tell me what type of insulation you wrapped around it

Itâs was some left over stuff we put under floating wood floors . I also used it doubled up inside old bus conversion on inner walls . As fibreglass tends to hold dust & moisture . Which results in rust .
