Most travel saver discounts are only available on line, some of the discounts are available if you present your card

It looks like rockylizard has hit the nail on the head, Collo

His link says that you have to purchase a Wish eGift Card online, at 5% discount
Then take the Gift Card to Dan Murphy

Their travel saver card isn't worth a pinch of goat sh*t & they charge more than any other insurance company to insure your caravan. A no brainer really.

I know nothing of caravan insurance

In 2016 their fully comp insurance for motor homes, was very competitive against other reputable insurers, and that is what I have

I shall use their discount card, when I purchase my annual carton of beer, nearer to Christmas time, now that I know how it works

Gday...

Interesting opinion/observation DD confuse

I guess that has been your experience when seeking an insurer that suits your situation.

I have had CIL insurance on my van for the past nine years ... and I do "checking quotes" with a range of major insurers each year before I renew.

There is one main reason I use CIL. I travel full-time, living in my van all over and anywhere in Straya. CIL covers my van Straya-wide using it van that way. Many (most?) other insurers do not cover a van that is used that way ... ie - with no 'residential address' to tie it to.

Each year I have not found another insurer that will cover my van for that usage, and those that, when questioned, say they would, are somewhat dearer than CIL.

It is ALWAYS the policy that one should be purchasing ... no good having a good price and no cover for the way the asset will be utilised - or with 'exclusions' that make the premium a waste of money should one need to make a claim. hmm

I have needed to make two claims in the past nine years ... on each occasion their service was excellent.

cheers - John

They charge more - they sure do !!! - I've been with CIL for 5 years now, without any claims of any sort.

I received my renewal in the mail last Tuesday - they put the value of the Aliner DOWN by 5%, BUT, the bloody premium went UP BY 30.5% - an extra $172 MORE than last year.

I expect premiums to rise in line with inflation, but, my risk to them has NOT changed in any shape or form, so they have no excuse to hike the premium by 30.5% - absolute rip-off !!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, they won't be getting my money.

I've just renewed my Avan Cruiser comp insurance with YOUI and amazingly it was reduced from $410.56 to $ 280.32 which is about a 30% reduction.

Only changes were insured value down from $14531 to $13850  and the excess up from $550 to $575. Van contents unchanged at $1000.

So I'm not complaining but I don't understand why it has dropped especially as we cancelled YOUI policies on 2 vehicle plus house and contents as they'd raised premiums on those.

 Regards

In my search for a replacement insurer, I asked Youi for a quote - not impressed - they did NOT even ask me what brand or model of camper trailer I had - I said camper trailers vary from around $4000 to well over $60,000, how do you know what mine is worth - he said we only go by the agreed sum insured. Sure enough, the emailed quote did not mention my Aliner anywhere in the policy - so much for that.

Anyway, my problem is solved - for the next few days, my insurer remains as CIL, until the policy expires, then it passes over to my new insurer, a MAJOR player, I saved $371 over what it would cost to re-insure with CIL.

And, better still, they upped the agreed value by another $2000 to cater for the Purpleline power movers I had fitted to the van. Very pleased - that's why they also have my Home insurance, my Contents insurance, my Car insurance, my Compulsory Third-Party insurance and now my Caravan insurance - the multiple-policy discounts really do work !

Regards, Brian

That's crazy Brian, Suncorp owns CIL insurance!...they also own AAMI, Apia, Just Car Insurance, Shannons, InsureMyRide, Vero, Terri ScheerBingle,  Asteron and Tyndall insurance brands in Australia.

Gday...

the insurance industry is quite incestuous hmm

However, the difference is usually in their policies - they can differ markedly.

One needs to read the PDF, and the critically examine and understand the exclusions .. and of course the inclusions .. in their cover.

The old adage applies in spades with insurance companies .. ya get wot ya pay for hmm

Cheers - John
