WS6906 Sat Finder

Hi. I am new to this site so don't know if this is the correct way to ask questions. Anyway here goes. I purchased a SATLINK WS6906 sat finder recently. Tried to use today but all I got when I switched it on & pressed MENU is TV Channel-Radio Channel-Add Channel. When I click on TV Channel it tells me I have No TV Programs. Am I supposed to install TV Programs & if so how

Try the help channel if you are lined up properly it will work as it doesn't require a subscription.
I'm not sure where you are up to with registration of your Vast receiver and installation so a little more information would help us answer your questions.

Hi there.. I did a bit of research on the net. It seems to me that you have not found the signal as yet. Is this the first time you have tried to connect to the satellite.??? Once you do have the sat signal you will be able to see the TV channels that are available on the screen of the sat finder. Cheers Daz

First you need to ensure the unit is set up receive from the correct satellite. Assuming you want to view TV via the VAST network, it needs to be tuned to the Optus C1 and D3 satellites (they're positioned so close together that just selecting C1 will also pickup signals from D3). I have a Satlink WS6933 meter which looks identical to the WS6906, but I didn't have to actually tune it as it was already set up for C1/D3 by the retailer I bought it from (Access Antennas in Perth). They also configured it to display the Al Jazeera news channel so it's easy to know when the dish is aligned with C1. You can download a user manual at ftp.dipol.com.pl/TV,TV-SAT/Miernik%20WS6906/6906manual.pdf. Once you've turned the meter on and looking for C1/D3, press the INFO button to display two bar graphs at the bottom of the display which will show signal intensity and signal quality which you use to fine tune the alignment of the dish (try and get the highest Signal Quality reading). Hope this helps.

Cheers, Joe

Apologies if you have done this already, but as an obvious question, I assume you do have the dish and Vast Satellite signal receiver box already, and it is registered?

You cannot use ordinary antennas to receive satellite signals direct to your TV.

As I say, my apologies if I am stating a fact you have already sorted.

Looks like those of us who have bothered to respond to the original post have done so in vain. Me thinks that the original poster has found out he needs a sat dish and decoder before getting satellite reception. A response would have been in order and polite. Cheers daz.

I have the same problem with my WS6906. It is only programmed to find satellites in France and Dubai. I have tried to contact Satlink Aust to get some advice but have had no reply on how to fix the problem. ITECHWORLD replied and quoted me $75 to program it to find Optus satellite. It's a pity that there is no contact number for complaints.
