Stuff from a newbie

I'm finally getting around to commenting on our one and only caravanning experience to date, 3 months thru to Sydney and back, and throwing in some pics. I might put in a regular post plus pic or two from time to time as long as the 'old boys and gals' don't tell me they've had enough. I'd like to put the pics here if I'm allowed because it seems not many visit the photo page. So, this lot is not so much for the folks who have a world of experience, but to encourage newbies who are yet to take the plunge. I've had one request from a new-starting member who's going next year, for some images to whet his appetite. I hope it can for others too. For all you hopefuls who are a bit apprehensive, although I've managed to get myself into some fair old sticks before, I'm not really a natural risk taker. So this first time 'big trip' was approached with some trepidation. What a blast it turned out to be! I seem to have the luck of the Irish in life (except in Lotto!) and mostly things went extremely well. So.. do some good prep, ask lots of advice. Then GO!

First pics, Madura where you descend off the scarp and on to the coastal flats all the way to Eucla. The plains, kays & kays of small eucalypts.

I'm looking forward to my first Nullarbor crossing over the next couple of months (I'll be heading west) and will probably take a gazillion (I exaggerate, probably only a million!) pics along the way and maybe post some of the less embarrassing ones here. I've been harvesting many posts about the crossing from over the past couple of years and will soon be sifting through them to glean the best advice from the collective wisdom. Like a lot of things, researching and being prepared makes things a lot easier (wish I could say the same for Lotto!).

Cheers
Joe

Hi Joe. I hope I can give you a bit of a buzz to go on your odyssey. I can tell you that there are good folks here with a world more experience than I. But everyones' experiences must help a bit. The Nullarbor is best tackled in spring in our opinion.  We started out in mid September and that was good weatherwise, although you can never be sure of that factor. Came back west in early December and it was hot after Eucla, but quite pleasant until then. Lucky again!

Thanks Bushpie. I don't have a blog page and will probably avoid it because I'm trying to limit my screen time. I'll try not to be too wordy here and let pics tell some of the story. Sadly, I do have that problem.aww

Jock, our "members blog" is not a blog page any different to what you are posting now. Just think of it in a different drawer of the filing cabinet. Check out some of the ones there, some are like yours where they just write their report into "this window", Others like mine are in PDF format then posted monthly, some update their online blog, and advise via the Membors Blogs thread that they have done so.

Check them out to see how others present. Look forward to reading more of your trip.
