Casino - Kyogle - Beaudesert

Am considering the above as an alternative for not going through Gold Coast/Brisbane while heading north in the next couple of weeks.

Anyone been on that road recently and comments on it?

From there Ipswich, then further north........................

Thanks

Yep went through there in February. with 22' van.

Road (Mt Lindsay Highway) is good although windy where you cross the Great Divide.

It has no steep climbs.

Would take this road in preference to Casino to Tenterfield any day.

Thanks Bill, much appreciated. Were you travelling south to north or other way?

Hi Brickies,

We are heading to Bundaberg area...so from Ipswich we are heading up through ESK, Nambour to Bundaberg.

We were in SE QLD - Beerwah, Esk Toowoomba area in October last year so are heading further north this time.

Depending what after that....we may head further north after a while in that area....

No north to south, but no major climbs either way.

The road from Casino to Kyogle is very good. From Kyogle to Woodenbong is also very good. From Woodenbong to Rathdownie is good just a bit windy in parts. From Rathdownie to Beaudesert and on to Brisbane is very good.

Between Woodenbong and Rathdownie there are sometimes a few trucks but just drive to the conditions. There are no steep climbs either way.

Safe travels.

Travelled that road around Mt Lindsay many times - a great trip - bit windy, but the views are worth it.

Jules,

Thanks for reply. We intend to have a look at Woodenbong and may stay at the Campground there. Had any experience with that? Wiki Camps seems to have reasonably good reports.

We stayed at the Woodenbong camp in Feburary, $10 a night with power, very pleasant would stay there again without hesitation.  For the times we need to go to Brisbane from NSW this is now our prefered route as opposed to Pasific Horrorway.

Highly recommend the Woodenbong Camp - and the proposed drive into Queensland
