WANTED,,,,,, PAPERBACK WESTERNS

Hi All,  are any of you, keen readers of those cheap ( about 100 page ) Westerns ?

If you are, and have a stack of them sitting in the cupboard of your caravan, just taking up space, how about passing them on to someone who reads about 6 per week while traveling round in his Caravan,

Westerns.jpg

I'm not looking for a free hand-out, I am willing to pay a reasonable price for these books, but if you just want to get rid of them, I will gladly pay for freight charges,

Please email me if you can help, I'm running very short of these books and getting pretty desperate for more.

Thanks in advance  K.J.

I have not seen those sort of books for many years

They use to be popular in the 1970's

Sorry I do not have any

Hi Tony, these books are still being printed today but, many are a copy of the originals, most have a new cover and it's not until you get part way through reading them that you realise you have read them before, damned annoying,

there were thousands printed,  so I take the chance that the ones I find, may not be ones that I've already read .

They are popular with the fly in fly out workers, but they usually dump then when read.

Not to worry, I'll still look for them, as they make a good short read while camping in some nice peaceful camp site.   biggrinbiggrin

Larry & Stretch were my heroes 40 plus years ago, when I did my apprenticeship with the NSWGR these westerns were a commodity that the guys actually traded between themselves. I didn't know that you could still get them.

I also liked Larry and Stretch, (as their paperback books had a lot of humour in them), compared to the normal cowboy books

I also came across some books, when they were called Larry and Streak

Yes, Larry & Stretch were a favorite of mine as well,  I've had a few over the years, both the thin 100 page versions and their other 500 page books, a good humorous read in both,

my biggest problem reading the normal thicker books is that I usually nod off, then when I awake, I have to go back a couple of pages to catch up,  so I prefer the thin Yippie books, start to finish in one go,

So, come on you lovely people, have a dive into your back cupboards, or your neighbor's, back shed, there must be a pile sitting somewhere.

I'm starting to chew my finger nails here, remember, I'm willing to pay something for them .  no disbelief yawn hmmcry

Sorry KJ if I had any or knew someone who did I would try and get them for you (only after I read them again) I haven't seen any around for years. I have a friend who is a fanatical opp shopper who can usually find anything I'll put her on the trail.

Cheers
BB

Thanks BB, I have been hunting through the OPP shops my self for a long time,

Every time I ask about those books, I get the same answer, " Yes " they have had them but, they go very fast,!!

so I guess there are people out there who still love them. So if your friend could look out for them I would really appreciate that.

I learn something new every day, kiwijims

Yes, Larry & Stretch were a favorite of mine as well, I've had a few over the years, both the thin 100 page versions and their other 500 page books

Do you know the Author of these books, as I will keep my eye out for the 500 page ones

We must have around a 100 of them, some so old that the glue is flaking off the backing. Still get a re read every 3-4 years. Never seen a 500 pager though. Our local 2nd hand shop wants 5-6$ though

"Strike Me "  $ 5 -6 is a rip off,  I have seen these books for sale Brand new, on the News agents shelves for $ 4.50 and only recently too,

An Opp shop trying to sell them at that price, sure live with high hopes !!  nonono

Hi kiwijims I have probably 50 of the 100 page westerns that I have read, and at least a couple of hundred still to read, my wife sells them for me regularly once I have read them, she usually gets $1.50 ea,depending on your location we may even be able to drop them off, we are leaving tomorrow to head up to Yamba from Victoria via Sydney.  Hody Luc52  It would nice if you could drop them off to me but, it may be a little out of your way, as I live in Perth W.A.

The most I have ever payed for those books is $1.00 ea, as that is the most I can sell them for here at the Sunday Markets,

At present I have managed to get a large supply of them here locally, so I am now quiet happy with what  I have, but thanks for letting me know anyway .

Cheers  K.J.
