Kimberley Falls Spectacular

Just in on the ABC News website - looking good for our Gibb River Road trip in May (if the water crossings aren't impassable!)

Yes it should be a great season for the sightseers. Is your time frame for May early or later?

In the nine years we lived at Mt Barnett a couple of times the Main Roads would open to Barnett River from Derby and then from the east only to Emma Gorge. This left Mt Elizabeth and Drysdale, Mitchell Falls and others out of the loop for a few extre weeks.

Also if the road is partially open some of the places to see may still be closed as their access tracks are still to wet.

Enjoy your adventure......be flexible :)

Hi Bushpie - we intend starting the GRR from Derby end on 19 May after doing the overnight trip to Horizontal Falls (a few days earlier) on the seaplane first. We can only be flexible to a point as we're both still doing that four-letter thing full time for money and have to be back at that thing on 12 June (Being mindful of not saying that word in case the Chief reads this). So who knows - we may get as a far as allowed then have to turn back if it's not open all the way through! Thanks for the warning about that - we will monitor the road conditions

Yep......I know how you feel about that ...thing..... 1092 days til I can put an end to it..........

We can only keep our fingers crossed for you and the road to be open for your trip.......
Good thing is ........its the best time to be on the Gibb when it is first opened.......not to much traffic and whilst the road may have some washouts here and there it wont be corrogated.......
