Bridgetown Blues festival

Bridgetown Blues festival was on this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 11th to 13th November 2016

Neighbour over the road asked if I was going

I told him no, as I was not into blues music, and that I had heard it was somewhat expensive at about $250 per person for the three day event.

He explained the situation to me, and I take this opportunity to pass this advice on

On the Saturday they block the main road off, and there are stalls for food, knick knacks, etc
There are also four, free venues on that blocked off road, (three on the main drag, and one on a side road), where you can listen to the blues music.

I will assume this is so that people like me, can decide if they actually like this sort of music

I went on Saturday for about four hours, unfortunately although this type of music does not hold very much appeal to me, (but never say never).

Knowing that we are all different, if others wish to find out if they like blues music, this may be a place to visit

I shall go again next year, for perhaps a longer stint on Saturday, and take a small collapsible seat, to sit, watch, and listen, to the world go by

Also there is a free camp at Greenbushes, about 16 kilometres away.
Greenbushes ask for a donation for the upkeep of the camp, and ask you to spend a bit of money in their town/hamlet

Sorry about the delay Philw, I have only just noticed your question

Bridgetown is situated in the South West of Western Australia, on the South Western Highway

About 95 kilometres south east of Bunbury,

About 40 kilometres north of Manjimup

(Bunbury itself is about 200 kilometres south of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia)

The next festival is on November 10 to 12 in 2017

Just a heads up for those interested, the 2017 event is on this coming weekend, 10 to 12 November

A neighbour has just mentioned to me that, the caravan park was full the weekend just gone, and assumes it is already booked out for the festival weekend

I may or may not be going this year, as I will be having some stitches on my back, on the afternoon of the 9th

For anyone touring in the area of Bridgetown, in the South West of WA, I can recommend the following

The town of Greenbushes about 16 kilometres away, which has a free camp site behind the oval
The campsite has flushing toilets, and water
They ask that you spend some money in the town, or donate something to the donation tin, at the service station

On Saturday Bridgetown closes the main road off from about 4am to midnight
They put up stalls on the main road, some with food
There are plenty of public toilets in that area
There are at least four walk up venues, which are free of charge, but have no seating

If you get in early on Saturday, the car park east of the main road area is fairly flat, but no camping allowed in that car park
