New Avatar

I have finally uploaded a new avatar, this is our cat who must come with us on our travels. She is touching 20 years old and is still going strong. The strongest part of her is her will, and we are going to have a headache when the time comes to move out.

She is a very smart cat, that's why she has lived all these years. I will have to start taking her for rides in the ute to get her used to the traveling. No problem getting her in the van, as she is usually waiting on the van steps to be let in.

Our little friend is now going quite blind. I guess at a 100 human years old, she's doing OK.

I hope that she gets use to travelling, and does not start fretting

Our cat is only 16, but has spinal problems

The cat flap in the fly screen door is now a bit too awkward for her, so the back door is always open in daylight hours

Our cat is also very smart, it spends 18 hours a day sleeping, and the other 6 hours looking for a good place to sleep

I always know which is the best seat in the house, as that is where the cat will be sleeping

This evening the best seat in the house is my side of the bed, LOL

That rug on the bed looks just like the ones we could buy in New Guinea. What sort of cat is that one, Burrman ?

Because our cat is old she is allowed many special privileges, one is sleeping on the bed, on a woolen rug. She will also lead one of us out to the caravan, where we unlock a small hatch that is connected to the inside of the van. We put a small step ladder there, she climbs the ladder and goes inside, where she spends the rest of the day in one of our chairs.
Being quite blind is a hinderance, but eye sight for a cat is one of their primary senses, and she seems to be copping OK. Our worry is a dog off the street getting her, as she will be caught unawares.

The cat is a Rag Doll, Ian

Dont know anything about the rug, wife said that it is a throw for the cat, whatever that is.
It is very soft so probably made of wool

Our cats have always had special privileges, they can do no wrong, so I have been told

Lucky we have the back yard boxed in with Super Six none asbestos type fence, and a high picket fence at the house line, to stop the cat leaving the back and side of the house area

Up to date we have had no dogs come into the back yard

There is a sign similar to the picture hanging up somewhere in the house

I am just grateful that the cat can not read, LOL

She's dead, died about 15mins ago by lethal injection on my lap. Fitting and anxious. Had her for eleven years, a beautiful, intelligent cat.

Thank you for your replies, I feel very sad, but I don't want a replacement pet, we need to get on the road, and a pet just posses too many restrictions. She was so tough, suffering and being treated for thyroid problems, then going blind. The fits were pretty dramatic, and while I was able to sit with her and calm her down, they came again and again. At 20 going on 21 years old she had a good innings, considering we saved her off death row 11 years ago.
